Other than G1, whoever was behind played better from G2-G4, but for G4, the nets and especially that net and edge at 12:12 saved Harimoto.

Given 曹彦灏/Cao Yanhao is suspended by his province for 1 year from all competitions, his prospect looks grim. Coming from a table tennis family with some fame in Jiangsu province, his dad 曹振东/Cao Zhendong used to play at elite level and turned to coaching and his older brother 曹彦涛/Cao Yantao used to represent CNT until 2019. Unless the 14-year-old can do it like LSD did a few years ago and CNT is really desperate, the odds are not good, as the CNT has tightened the criteria for entering the national team recently.

What a roller coaster ride for OJS, Matsushima of KOR, first making a name for himself at ATTC 2024, then fell into obscurity in 2025, even busted his ankle in early 2026, but against all odds became the 3rd man (and 4th player, after Persson, FTW and Harimoto) in this century to take 2 points off of CHN at WTTC 2026, has just become the 2nd KOR man to reach a WTT Champions final after LSS (best of JWJ was SF).
