Huang Youzheng will potentially clone his idol WCQ to the tee, from service motions to Round of 32 exit.

If you guys want to see something cool watch Odo dismantle chopper Yang Yiyun in Game 2 (and a few points into Game 3) of their match.

Some textbook play against defender in that game. Odo was moving YYY around in all directions and finding the right angles to either jam her up the middle or hit balls past her. Even her pushes felt like attacks since the short ones were super short and the long ones went to spots that were most inconvenient for YYY to get to.

Most times when I watch offensive players beat defenders, it's usually through a combination of consistency and power. But Odo really used every tool and made it look stylish. Really enjoyable. Even YYY looked confused as to how she was doing it.

The 8 points straight to win the game was some really flawless looking stuff. More Odo magic!

Alright so LSD just played a wild match with Gnanasekaran.

Gnanasekaran goes on like a 24-31 point run to put him up 2-0 in games and is up 7-1 in the 3rd game. LSD wins 10 of the next 11 points to win 11-8.

Then LSD wins Game 4 11-1. So he went on a 21-2 point streak to tie it up. With that momentum he goes on to win game 3 comfortably.

Wildest swings I've seen in match.

In the past I've always though of Ito as the best player to play against choppers, but now I think that title might have to go to Odo.

And Odo's style in general is just pleasing to watch. Here you have a young woman who's maybe an inch taller than Ito and she's doing BH drives from 10-15 ft from the table like LSD and winning the point against Miwa and CIC. You rarely see this from other women. I just hope she has enough in the tank for Frankfurt and Fukuoka.

LSD still looks shaky
good come back and showing his level
I think the 5 game format has also helped making the stakes more even

Seriously, 9 CNT members over 32 players in the men's draw.... and probably 9 in the 16 (pray for LGY y'all... sorry i'm a bit sarcastic today), is there any... anything interesting to watch Benyamin Faraji put aside ? it's basically a mock CNT tournament.

If Faraji manage to get through the semi-final....

its just the time of the year where no one wants to play more tournaments.
probably one of the least contested contenders you will find.

only one TPE player, because she just finish her budesliga match over the weekend, and will play contender muscat before heading back to Taiwan for the national team trials. she will probably leave tomorrow since her match is done.

I watched Odo live in Bulgaria - and her game against choppers is super impressive. Great placement and some lethal FH shots with so much snap that you actually can not believe it's possible for her to produce such shots.

Shinozuka, Tanaka and Yoshiyama all gone after 1st round lmao what is wrong with them?
tanaka is a strange one i thought he would be one of the top japanese players after he beat wcq a while ago but hasn't really done much as far as i can remember (maybe i am wrong)

i hope uda can go far in this tournament, wonder if its possible for him to find a way into the national team at some point

Matsushima is actually the worst offender in terms of stats for 2024.
Togami is similarly bad.
Shinozuka is not bad.
Tanaka is actually decent.
Uda is best overall but he's played only 1 CNT player (and won).
Yoshiyama is still better than Matsushima and Togami with his 2 wins out of 3 over CNT players.
Harimoto has played double the MS matches (even higher if counting MT) of some of his teammates.

After WTT CS Montpellier 2024
Overall win rate in MS (no MT), Win rate against CNT players, Win rate against non-CNT players and non-teammates
Harimoto - 73.44%, 30%, 82.22%
Togami - 54.05%, 0%, 61.29%
Shinozuka - 69.23%, 0%, 83.33%
Matsushima - 50%, 0%, 59.09%
Tanaka - 68.57%, 33%, 74.19%

Yoshimura M. - 65.38%, 0%, 72.73%
Uda - 75%, 100%, 76.92%
Oikawa - 50%, 0%, 57.14%
Yoshiyama R. - 57.14%, 66.67%, 60%

Looks to me like someone ordered the CNT players to sharpen up. There is a lot of red all over the pairings.
maybe they learnt from Kim across the border and said if you loose, you going to the mines.

the mens are doing okay, the womens - lost count on how many lost to foreigners already
