All of them are here at their own expense (yes, even the JNT players [top 5 for this year], the others are JNT Reserve players). Other than Sakamoto who is coaching for Miki House players (Odo and Takamori), the others didn't bring one.

First and foremost, that's what Odo said.

I noted back in 4/2024 that the level dislayed by Odo and Yokoi up to that point wouldn't be enough for LA 2028 and boom, Odo lost to Batra in straight games in WT SF of ATTC 2024, her first continental compeititon (and not to mention the XD). Odo revealed at WTT CS Montpellier 2024 that she had been off lately but she was on on the final day. That's the lower limit that LGL assessed for the Olympics. 4 years is a long time. Even Hirano said she was frustrated that her results and her position in the world did not match up during the 5-year Tokyo 2020 cycle. Her wins at Polish Open 2016, World Cup 2016, Zennihon Takkyu 2017 and ATTC 2017 and the bronze medal at WTTC 2017 were even more impressive and she maintained that form from 4/2016-6/2017. How long can Odo and Yokoi keep this up? It's still an unknown. Odo and Yokoi will turn 24 when LA 2028 comes. That will be their only chance to make it.

Once again, worry about TPE first. LYJ is 1W3L versus F. Lebrun, losing the last 3, 2 of which 0-3. Not to mention 0-4 LSD. He couldn't even close out on WCQ that even a 14-year-old kid could manage. Where will LYJ be in 4 years time? KCJ? CIC? CSY?

T'was the same last year, and we saw what happened. You can't bet ANYTHING with 2 players capable of the worst and the best: Lin Yun-Ju and Tomokazu Harimoto, they can play like shµt for 2 months and then... out of nowhere, baaaam they win big destroying the CNT. They are too much unpredictable, worst nightmare for punters.

IIRC, there is a set of rules. Winning Zennihon Takkyu is a guarantee for the year.

The NT, JNT (Junior) and HNT (Hopes) players are selected by the respective NT/JNT/HNT headcoaches (Tasei for MT and Watanabe for WT et al.) and then reported to the Chief of Development Headquarters (Baba). There are 11 criteria for NT/JNT and 6 for HNT in descending order, starting with those within Top 100 in WR, Zennihon Takkyu Top 16...

Odo can prepare for some of it but the wide placement will be difficult to counter given her reach. She will have to pick one side to cover.

An example is the point at 10:8 of G1, in which Odo anticipated the shot to her wide FH, but Odo's return was limited to the diagonal, and KM retained the initiative from there. Throughout the match, KM's tactics revolved around 破壞擊球點/breaking the impact height (the specific point of the ball trajectory) that Odo felt the most comfortable. Along with the short game, KM gave either medium-high slow loops or medium-low fast loops (that facial expression at 5:0 of G2), which severely limited Odo's options and her most effective way to score was to serve long and put in the strong first loop.

Kuai Man beats compatriot QTY 4-2 to take the WS title. Despite dropping to WR#80, she has really improved in multiple areas most noticeably footwork, reaction time, and fitness. Maybe this is a turning point for her to become the leader of the next generation. Taking the title here should bring her ranking points up to roughly WR#36.
