WTF !!! a chopper won an international tournament beating 5 Chinese players without dropping a single game !!

When was the last time this happened ???
Ma Te ans Hou Yingchao are going to join the Women's team in China as practice partners. I can see this coming...

tbh she beat 3 second-or-third tier CNT player, one HK player (not even the top 1 ?) and a convalescent player
who came back from fighting a cancer (although ex-number 1)

still a humongous performance

Top 3 in Japan will mean she has to make the top 5 or 6 in the world and probably win a Champions. That will be interesting.
top 10 wr for sure, 5 or 6 would be for Olympic singles level.

another girl can always come up, just like odo last year. but if you look at who Honoka has to jump, she will already be past Kihara. to get by Mima is certainly possible. hayata probably only falls behind Honoka by injury, but obvs that could happen, has happened before.

so top three of miwa, odo, hashimoto - it's not impossible. some stuff would have to happen, yes of course. but if she can make this week her standard level, she could pull it off.

did she just have the awesomest week of her playing life, that's the question. will be interesting storyline to watch and see.

Kihara lost to Hashimoto in 4 games in QF at Zennihon Takkyu 2020.
Kihara won in 5 games in R16 at Zennihon Takkyu 2023.
Still so confident?

Also, Kihara/Nagasaki 3-2 Sato/Hashimoto at Zennihon Takkyu 2024. And keep in mind Hashimoto got eliminated by Ushijima, a chopper, in WS R32 and Sato/Hashimoto exited in R16 at Zennihon Takkyu 2025.

for 2025 its too late alas, except doubles (?)
if she isn't playing in 2026 with this kind of form its a disgrace. but if she keeps on like that she'll climb in the rankings and get in Top3 Japan which means an entry
Nope, the full lineups were announced last month, but it was a done deal way before then when Hashimoto and Sato missed the ATTC 2024 after both of them failed to beat Odo in the selection trial and their rankings were below that of Ito. If Sato beat Odo in F (Hashimoto lost to Odo in SF) and got the WS spot, then Hashimoto would've been selected for WD, just like Yokoi got selected for WD because Odo got the WS spot.

It's been a long time coming, but finally Sora Matsushima gets his WTT title. Congratulations, young master Sora! He almost threw it away up 9-4 in the decider but wins the deuce game.
Sun Yang is inspired!

Huge laces Honoka is a mythical table tennis great. Nobody can even take one game off her.

Now, where do I buy a Nippon Paint Mallets Hashimoto jersey?
their value went up but not as high as the S.ODO ones... impossible to find one anymore

Han Ying i believe did so something like this a while back though i don't think there eas any Chinese opposition in that one.
Seems like having your own dedicated person to CHO for you is a recipe for success. First LYJ and now Sora showing better results with this.

Yeah, i am beginning to wonder whether this isn't a dedicated solution to quiet players now and maybe Harimoto might even go with this as well and conserve some energy lol.
