WTT Contender Zagreb 2023

Sorry, Tony, I just want to maintain peace here. No one is claiming that Miu is the world champion. She simply won a minor tournament (in WTT tours), and we are well aware of that. The main point is to congratulate Miu on her well-deserved victory. The "award" you mentioned could easily be seen as a trophy/cup to us (ok, I admit that it cannot be a cup as your reference). In fact, I believe WTT also referred to it as a trophy or cup in some of their posts. Perhaps you should reach out to their editors as well to correct it :) . For now, please let our fans celebrate happily.

I believe the most important thing is that her confidence is back. She has been really focused, taking each point seriously, and not dwelling too much on the points she lost. Hopefully, she can maintain her motivation and secure a spot for singles in Paris 2024.
NAKAZAWA Rui/Wang Rui, who used to coach her at JOC Elite Academy after Hirano approached him in late 2015, has a lot to do with that. The decision to transfer from Nissay RedElf to Kinoshita Abyell (with which Nakazawa is currently affiliated) last year made all the difference once again.

“There are many situations in table tennis. When you are attacked by your opponent, when you attack yourself, and when you attack but cannot score, even if it is 50/50, your opponent may make a mistake, so scoring a point that way is very important. I think it was good that I was able to get her to recognize that part.

Hirano has no choice but to grow. I think that the matches with all the players have become a source of inspiration. I always tell her that the most important thing is to persevere and play until the end, whether it's going well or not."

Can't wait for another episode on Hirano.

TV Tokyo: Much awaited talking point for Table Tennis Japan!
Zennoh: Why did we stick with Ishikawa?
Nittaku: Why did Ito and Hayata choose us but not Hirano?
Sanrio: Yatta!

Hirano: It's of utmost importance to grow into a player who can win against anyone.

This is why I said the East and West are not on the same page. Folks don't understand the CNT mentality here. Players who have reached the top before are just different. China is wary the most of those who have done that, especially on the big stage.
