Whatever the final result, these two are giving us a serious battle and a thoroughly enjoyable match!
I wish it was that simple and that the loser would not be called a choker or naive some other epithet and the winner would not be called dumb or lacking confidence or some other epithet...

I hate those matchpoint balls that the tightness of the moment makes you mistrack the trajectory and the ball falls off your paddle because you didn't make good contact. It is interesting how the good players make the same mistakes we all do but just at a higher level of speed and difficulty because they play at that higher level. But the mistakes are entirely relatable once you play at a sufficiently high level (sometimes, USATT 1600 can be sufficient with the right style).

Whoa, Harimoto just went straight to the top of the podium, ignoring the cue from the staff to go around and shake hand.

Harimoto lost his cool after 2:6 of G4 and turned into the Lebrun brothers for a split second... LOL
Another one after 3:6 of G2 against QD.

Man, is it Kishikawa's coaching or Harimoto's stubbornness? Always so slow to adapt (a big problem with Japanese society).

Kept playing rallies (safe) when QD clearly had the upper hand until G4, where he started turning to use his FH much more (risky) and finally taking it.
