The behavior of the fans after the LJK victory was hideous, even during the interview. They cheer for one player throughout the match, just like Kuai played against Xintong. You can see that the Chinese cult of people on posters works.

Folks may want to look up WCQ's H2H against LJK and LGY. Doesn't compare well.

Yeah they were making a ruckus getting WCQ autographs or something during LJK's victory interview. There was a point where LJK kinda stopped and had to look over at them with a disappointed expression.

this is a sickness

need to learn sportsmanship has sports in it, and as spectators, there are times you need to respect the winners.
not everything is about abuse when loosing or things not going your way.

I feel like I'm going to get pelted with slippers :), but I'll still speak out.
For some reason, watching the best players play at this tournament and not only at this one, I can't help but think about the lag of Dignics and K3 on forehand behind Hurricane 3, which chinese players use. H3 has a better short game and a low ball trajectory. It's very difficult to play with a low ball. This effect I could see clearly in the game between Patrick and WCQ - a lot of balls from WCQ flew under Patrick's racket. Since many elements are automatic for professionals, I got the impression that Patrick's hand is automatically tailored for a higher ball from the european-japanese rubbers against which he trains and plays, and it's just hard for him to adjust.
And vice versa, Dignics and K3 have a high takeoff angle, the ball is high despite the speed and spin which simplifies the game for fast high-level players.

Hey man, stuff like this taking it too far.

I'm not one for stifling discussion but this really strays into personal attack territory. Coaching and mentoring relationships can be very close and meaningful so being offensive in this regard is like talking about someone's friends or family.

Maybe you might not understand because you've never experienced this sort of relationship. But maybe cool it a bit with where you're aiming your attacks. Go ahead and offend Tony personally but don't bring his students (most still kids) into online arguments.

KM's wide angle shot might give SYS some trouble. If KM can take this event and keep performing well, it will totally change the CNT picks for 2028 Olympics. SYS might really never get a Olympic gold in singles.

I don't think KM has a chance. SYS can run down those balls.

Nah, WCQ is especially notorious for low trajectory topspin, his style works for him and not necessarily anyone else and the issue you are raising, while helped by using hard sponge H3 at max power, requires a style that most of the other CNT members cannot sustain, even Fan and Ma couldn't play that way consistently. It's not always about equipment, I suspect that if WCQ got softer rubber, he would figure our how to play his low trajectory drives with it, though it is clear the hard sponge helps him

Yup WCQ could beat LSD but LJK can't. WCQ's not consistent since Olympic.

Alexis has disappointingly lost so fast. His performance varies like day and night
I think if you watched the match, it was actually a competitive and high quality affair but Lin Shidong is more consistent at that level of play than Alexis is which led to confidence at critical moments which Alexis doesn't have in quite the same way. The biggest single problem that cost Alexis the most points was that he couldn't read Lin's short side top serve on critical points.

If Alexis can play one season of Super League, I think it will solve 90% of the problem. He showed pretty clearly that he has the tools to be at that level, just not the consistency, but anyone just below Lin will lose to the tools.

Can Kuai Man be the next Zhang YiLing that Li Zhu did not find on ZYL? I really like her style, versatile, great placement...
To think that it was assumed that this style was completely dead after Mima Ito bear Zhu Yuling... would be interesting to see a ito-Zhu rematch.

wow this has been pushed too far
because when things don't go his way, just like those low moral fans, they go do stupid things.

maybe he needs to man up and come out from hiding behind his computer and play a best of 5 with me, and he can bring 3 of his students while I bring 3 of mine and see who is really sorry.
He is a top international coach after all, so I'm sure my challenge isn't unreasonable.

Did you expect KM to beat WMY and CXT? I did not and she surprised us. SYS is not invincible. CM could beat SYS with good placement and I think KM can too.
Wang Manyu no, but Chen Xingtong was clearly in her range. The thing is that Chen Xingtong figured out how to play her but didn't have the discipline to execute it consistently. I think if Sun Yingsha watched that match and plays more to the middle to limit the angles, she will do well.

Wow, some tension at the end there.
It could have gone either way and both would have been worthy finalists but LJK showed some real composure when it mattered and WCQ was again, at times just slightly off in the mental capacity and it cost him.
Taking nothing away from LJK, he would have known he needed his best to progress and he was focused the entire time.
Very happy for him.
I do think the final is a foregone conclusion now tho. I couldn't see anyone other than full power WCQ being able to beat Lin Shidong.
He might not drop a single game en route to the title is my next bold prediction!
I give a small edge to Lin for tomorrow's final. Liang can use the same tactics today in beating WCQ against Lin, which is sustaining the initial attacks and engaging rallies away from the table. Lin does have a very strong long distance games but that also is Liang's main strength.
Also, like Zhou Qihao, Liang performs better against his teammates than against non-Chinese players, a civil war hero. Today's winning against red hot WCQ is a good example.
With that said, Lin though still very young, plays a mature game way beyond his age. Unlike WCQ, he's not gonna his opponents easy points.

Agree. QM has improved a lot in her forehand loops in terms of speed and consistency, especially, left's best weapon against right handed players: a deadly cross court FH loop to the wide corner.
