maybe it wasn’t the right term because english is not my first language, but i like rubber with a lot of dynamic and katapult on my backhand, but i don‘t like it when the catapult starts to early like on short touches or serves. that is known for tenergy05 and several other rubbers. vega x, vega pro, ventus extra, nittaku g-1 and tenergy19 all do a better job with this and are all in the same hardness range of euro 48. but O7pro was more like 05 on my blade.i hope it is clear now what i mean :)
Try a harder Rubber if you have the technique or something Japanese like Nittaku Hammond Z2, Stiga Mantra Pro, Nexy Etika. They behave more linearly and their catapult isn't as strong but also not dead, while beeing plenty fast.

I know all that, Asia DF is soft (too soft, unfortunately) and China Guang too hard, at least for BH.
I am looking for a bit harder tacky rubber, and yes, I mixed up names - what I meant is Hybrid and China, as they seem to be 52.5 both …
as i wrote, the hybrid is 50 degree and semi-tacky/super grippy and the china is 52.5 and tacky/semi-tacky. maybe they have a different pimple structure and i can imagine the hybrid is more high throw, while china beeing medium throw, but who knows? we need to wait till omega 8 hybrid comes out…

thanks for the recommendations, i will look into that! are they like modern dynamic rubbers?

ok, we don’t understand each other but maybe that’s for the best as obviously there is another rubber that might be okay for my needs (even better with 50 hardness) … I am talking about Omega 8 China and Omega 8 Hybrid. these both have, as per official Xiom page, 52.5 sponge hardness (which might be too much but am willing to try), so which one are you talking about with 50 hardness? 😀

maybe i have old information, in the catalog of 2024 the omega 8 hybrid was declared as 50 degree

How do you compare Nexy Etika with Nittaku Hammond Z2? Have you tried both?

Omega 8 Hybrid and Euro are due in April, based in Xiom Europe info I received. And in Europe the rubbers are only released in Max thickness, which is 2.1-2.2mm
thanks. I read about this somewhere that these rubbers will be one thickness only, but that's because of the 4mm limit, if I understand correctly.

nevertheless, I am playing with Omega 7 China Guang on forehand and it is marvelous, was afraid 2.1 would be too thick, but it's really good. actually, can feel ball better than with Vega Asia DF which is 2.0 and much softer.

I'm playing 08 China for a few weeks now. I would not call it tacky. It might have the slightest faint of tack. It's very spinny of course and quite a bit faster than Vega Pro H or Rakza Z.

and how is Vega Pro H? I read a lot about it, from being great BH rubber to being slow and useless … :ROFLMAO:

A few weeks with the O8C and I'm loving it on the BH. Some slight issues putting backspin on pushes (I'm somehow occasionally giving deadspin on the ball), but I get a lot of mileage on sending my pushes short. Spin generation and drives feel so good with it.

after all the reading it seems worth waiting for O8C or O8H ... might be the right rubber for my backhand ... but then again, I messed up my open-up topspin and loop stroke so bad that I first have to un-mess it first and then maybe even 30 years old Sriver rubber will be okay ...

In the end, it's more about comfort with your equipment (to an extent) than anything. I've been working with my coach on my openers from backspin on both sides, so I just had to work on taking it slow and getting the feeling from my touch and following through on my shot.

my problem is I am a coaches son. :p he was a respected coach, he had a lot of success (he had quite a few national champions in younger categories, I never was a national champion but in junior and youth categories I was always top 10, even top 5) and he taught me everything he knows but unfortunately passed away before we could unravel the mystery of missing backhand topspin shots ... now his friend, and colleague, we played a league match this Wednesday and he of course beat the hell out of me and after the match approached me "you were saying you lost your backhand?" and then told me what I am doing wrong. in the age of celluloid ball it was working, but now with plastic ball this isn't working somehow ... but this is not the rubber's problem, this is completely my problem. it's not rubber's problem that I am hitting balls with the edge of the blade.

where rubber does come in is in finishing shots where I try to close with fast, speedy smack and the ball just flies off ... gone ... and I realized this happens often and not because of my mistake, but because limba layer on my blade is bouncy ... and Vega Asia DF is bouncy. and it's a bit too explosive, this combination. also, this doesn't happen if I turn the blade and play with Omega 7 China Guang. but O7CG is too hard for my backhand, that I did realize, so I am now searching for something in 47.5-50 range. I presume that would be ideal.

I had a similar issue with some of the bounciness of my Fastarc C-1 in matches, so I tried the O8C out, which is slightly harder than the range you want. I thought 47.5-50 would be fine for me as well, but I've responded to this rubber nicely. Our blades are similar in wood construction.

Thank you for sharing your story! My condolences.

yes, I am quite hyped about O8C, I've read a lot of good stuff about it and it does pretty much check all the boxes. just waiting for it to come into stock at my table tennis equipment local shop ...

and thank you, appreciate it!
