FX-S is a very dynamic softer sponged rubber, that if fundamentals are there, DOES make it easy for most of the offensive topspin oriented strokes (This means it SUCKS for the fast not so spinny exchanges close to table compared to harder less dynamic rubers)

Is this appropriate for a developing player?

I would say if the player has developed enough technical ability and feel, FX-S could work well on either wing if the player is trying to further develop more topspin oriented shots.

One thing to add: Rozena is a pretty special rubber specifically suited for developing kids. It’s extremely forgiving to incoming spin but still has the pace of Tenergy. I know of several kids in the age of 10-12 that uses it at a level which is beyond most people on this forum. I would still consult your kids coach before making any purchase.

BTW: someone asked the difference between Korbel and Primorac Off- and some of it was answered. Same ply construction, but Korbel is thicker. But some was not: Korbel has a larger head size. Which makes Korbel not as good a choice for a kid at 12-13 years old because the larger head size makes it so the extra rubber adds enough more weight to the head to make it heavy and head heavy. By 14-15 that would not matter and that would be a good blade upgrade when the time comes. :)

The idea was to slowly upgrade his rubbers as he improves. My thought is no point upgrading blade until he has reached the level of say tenergy rubbers and is comfortable with them and needs a speed upgrade which would then be a new blade. Till then blade upgrade is a no no...

Yes will consult his coach. Rozena is definitely a option only concern is speed. But otherwise rozena is as u say a very forgiving rubber with good control.

Rosena is a control oriented modern dynamic rubber. A lot of players who are striving to become topspin oriented spin and looping players will find this rubber in the middle zone of appropriateness once a certain technical level is there. Will work on a lot of blades. Unless blade is ridiculous slow, slapping on Rosena or a rubber of its class once a minimum level is there is a fine idea.
