Watching the World Cup last week and the ITTF Finals this week, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between FZD and Novak Djokovic on the one hand, and ML and Roger Federer on the other.
I wonder how long it'll be before we're talking about FZD as the GOAT? If he keeps playing like this it can't be far off.
- Federer and ML are both moving closer to the end of outstanding careers during which they've both been widely regarded as the GOAT of their sports.
- Djokovic and FZD are still in the peak phase of their careers and becoming increasingly dominant. Not quite at GOAT status yet, but not far off.
- Federer and ML can still, on the right day, beat Djokovic and FZD. And, on almost any day, they'll beat anyone else!
- But probably 7 times out of 10 you'd expect Djokovic and FZD to beat Federer and ML going forward.
