Who do you think will win? Can Europe pull a big upset and take the tournament? Or will Asia be dominant? It looks like the cards are stacked against the Europeans. What do you think will happen. Vote in the poll and add your comments in this thread.

The information below comes from this page: http://www.ettu.org/2012/05/asian-side-having-advantage-in-tianjin/

The Asian Event of the Asia-Euro All Stars Challenge scheduled for May 12th -13th in Tianjin People’s Gymnasium will open 2012 season. The Continental clash will gather top guns from Asia and Europe for a fourth season in the row.

Five players from Asia coming from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Japan and China will have advantage in every match at the opening day if we look at the rankings, whilst only in one, last match at day one Europe will have better ranked player in the duel.

The Event will start with the encounter between GAO Ning of Singapore and Alexey SMIRNOV of Russia. Gao is World’s no. 14, whilst Russia’s representative occupies currently spot no. 45 and he is the lowest ranked player at the Asia-Euro All Stars Challenge in Tianjin this year. That was not the problem for SMIRNOV last year when he was awarded as a best player of the Event in Minsk.

HAO Shuai of China ranked at the position no. 18 will meet Bojan TOKIC of Slovenia who is player no. 33 in May at rankings.

Jun MIZUTANI of Japan is the best ranked player at the competition with number seven before his name at the rankings. Young player will meet experienced Vladimir SAMSONOV. Since JOO Se Hyuk of Korea was forced to withdraw from the competition because of dermatological problems, Belarus star stayed in game as only player who has played at each and every event since 2009.

Another close encounter will be seen in match between World’s no. 10 CHUANG Chih Yuan of Taipei and no. 11 Dimitrij OVTCHAROV of Germany.

Last duel of the day will be between LEUNG Chu Yan of Hong Kong World’s no. 30 and Adrian CRISAN of Romania world’s no. 26.

On the second day GAO will meet CRISAN, LEUNG will play against TOKIC, CHUANG against SAMSONOV, MIZUTANI against OVTCHAROV and HAO against SMIRNOV.

Asia won second leg and overall Trophy for the best team last year as they did in two previous occasions as well.

Official TV broadcaster is CCTV. French region of Vendée will host the European leg of the Event on 27th and 28th October 2012.
