hello , im using an old butterfly mazunov ,everything is good ,except for the weight, im looking for a not so expensive replacement ,
some info which may help:
i have an old butterfly viscaria also which is too soft , a butterfly primo vitesse which has too much vibartion , butterfly primorac carbon everything with this one was good but the control , i want to use other brands, ive read some review about stiga inifinity vps , stiga emerald vps , DHS Hurricane Hao 656 , Donic Waldner Senso Carbon, xion vega euro and xio vega pro , i have never used or seen any of them i just read the reviews in tabletennisdb.com. so help me if you can, what are your suggestions ? a little more control and dwell time compared to mazunov will be appreciated. thank you.

How heavy is your Mazunov? I have two from the 1991. Those were some heavy blades. Some Mazunovs are even up to 110 grams.

If I was you I would think about a Stiga Clipper. If you got one that was 92-94 grams, it would probably be lighter than your Mazunov. Some Clippers have weights in the 80s. But the ones that weigh over 90 grams feel better to me.

Anyway, like the Mazunov, it is all wood and 7 plies. But the Clipper is crisper and has more feeling. It should also have more control, spin and dwell time, but feel about the same speed. Not a bad choice and a Clipper Classic runs about $70.00 USD.

if you want to keep the same feel of the mazunov you should go with stiga tube series.
tube aluminium or tube carbo.

The Mazunov (I mean the old ones, dont know if the new ones are the same) is 5 plies.
Anyway I agree with the Clipper advice, can also consider Yasaka Goiabao 5 (faster than Clipper, slower than the Mazunov).

My Clipper is surely faster than my Mazunov. My Clipper is 95 grams and my Mazunov is 105 grams. I think the clipper differs a lot from the Mazunov. Mazunov is great for counterspinning and blocking and away from the table. The Clipper is a lot better for looping and has more feeling.

I think the Primorac Carbon comes very close to Mazunov. It is faster but you can put on some slower rubbers. A Petr Korbel should be close to the Clipper so you could try that.

If you want to sell your Mazunov I'm interested ;)

Oh well. I hope you get a good one, it feels nice and you like it. But, usually a blade that is meant to be 90-95 grams, when you get one that is 7-10 grams lighter than optimal weight, it feels like nowhere near as good a blade.

As far as all the versions, to me, the Classic Clipper, with no WRB, the simplest one, is the best one.

WRB means hollow handle. And what that does is make the blade head heavy no matter what rubbers you put on it. Some people like WRB. Some people don't. I personally don't like head heavy. But in the end, whatever you are used to works.

Hopefully the one you get will be good even though it is on the lighter side for a Clipper.

That will be a big adjustment going from 105 grams to 85 grams. But, you wanted lighter so I hope the blade you ordered is perfect for you.

Oh yeah, Stiga blades. Definitely seal it. The ones with a coat like NCT you wouldn't need to seal. But definitely seal the Clipper.

Don't worry, if the blade doesn't play well you can always send it back, they should deliver a decent product:D

If you are very careful you don't need to seal it, but you might want to consider it. It also makes the blade play a little bit like a harder blade which isn't bad seeing you played with a Mazunov before. Just be careful you don't put to much sealer as you will waste your blade.

The layer of sealer should be thin. Stiga blades are easily damaged without sealer. If the layer of sealant you apply is thin it should not affect the way the blade plays in a meaningful way.

Not sure if table tennis dealers let you return a blade because you didn't like how it played. But, who knows.
