Had my first practice session (2 hrs) after ages of inactivity today, thought it'd have been worse but god, there's so much to work on.
Trajectories were extremely high, i couldn't keep the ball low for the first 20-25 mins of just focused FH and then BH shots.
Missed the ball a lot of times... Sent the ball a lot of times out of the table... And sometimes i had the feeling i couldn't "see" the ball
BH appears to be quite decent, mostly counters... Tried to give spin few times and looks like i have to practice some more before being able to brush again properly.
FH was super awkward at the beginning, went better at the end but this is definitely the thing i have to practice the most. A lot of times i missed the ball or wasn't able to apply the desired amount of spin.
Also i think the position of feet needs to be adjusted.
Chops on FH were definitely awful. Didn't even bother trying on BH.
At the end, when i started getting a decent feeling, i was going for things that i knew i was able to do, but the outcome wasn't really what it was supposed to be, disappointing me a bit. It's like the brain remembers you were able to do that thing, you try and try and try again but the result is poor.
I think i'll be having some coaching sessions next week: there are some quite skilled people at the TT club i went and would love to play vs them. Luckily a couple of them were patient enough to play with me a bit.
Oh something about the polyballs: used a Gewo *** and i can't say anything about the weight and the feeling of it when hitting the ball (mostly because memories of weight are gone), but i expected way more spin because in few cases i brushed the ball properly and after it hit the table i was like "only that ?!". It's like i have to double the effort when brushing to properly apply "something".
Welcome to 2016, haha!
