Ahh lost again! And my phone ****ed up as well. Still here is the first match:

Today I felt really tired and didn't have much nerve to play :-/ However I think the opponents in the 3. league are just tougher than those i have faced before.

He won the match, the camera died on me on the last couple points. I think it ends at 6:10.

Thank you for your kind words :) I actually was pretty disheartened after today and thought that I played very bad. It feels very good to know that you guys have my back :)

I only managed to record one more game of the last match. It was against a LP player. He is the second best player in this third league group.

He destroyed me in the next two games i haven't recorded.

2:1 Likes to Post ratio achieved btw :D

I think the recording yourself so frequently is really helpful. It lets us see how far you've developed and how quickly you're doing it. I like seeing how from day to day, your stance is changing and patience changes between different days. This is what makes me want to record myself more, seeing those little changes show up, fade and come back with force.

Congrats on your 2:1 like to post ratio haha. Maybe if I had the balls to record and post my gameplay from every time I played, I could achieve the 2:1 too. But alas, my balls aren't quite as big as yours. I'm still on the 38mm while you've graduated past the 40+ and moved up to the 44mm

League was tough yesterday - lost to the 10 and under US girls champ in 5 in my first match. Went up 2-0 but the serves stopped working and she consistently served fast deep serves to my middle (I have to work on that as I serve them to the corners).

Then I lost to Big M as I shall call him from now on. Had two ridiculous points, some ridiculous shots, and lots of silly misses, including serves. I am going to start doing some target practice with my serves. I have to stop messing around and produce high level serves with pin point precision on demand. Best offensive match I have played against him in a while and it gives me hope.

Then I lost to a girl with medium pips who was rusty three weeks ago but has obviously been training. She wasn't missing that backhand and she wasn't pushing my popups either, mostly hitting them for outright winners. I realized that this was very similar to the serve that DeWitt used against me so I am going to work out something for it tonight.

Then I beat a guy with short pips on his backhand - he was ill last week and hadn't played in a while and since he has turned aggressive, I tend to beat him when he is playing his touch game and he tends to beat me when he is aggressive and using that to set up his touch game. And of course, since he was out for a week, he was playing his touch game so I pulled that one out since he missed too many attacks.

And then I played the guy I spoke about with short pips on his forehand who I remembered from college. This time, he came at me with a variety of serves and attacks. I felt pressure from him for the first time in a while. But my backhand down the line arose out of the ashes like a Phoenix and burnt all signs of resistance in the end.

I will take the things I need to work on (returning short sidespin serves, counterlooping with the forehand and rallying faster at the table with the backhand) into today's practice.

As always, all matches are on youtube (except the young girl as kids are not always cool with being online).

As I read how you're playing you sound like you're improving quite a bit too. How's your rating reflecting that recently? You're constantly learning and with how your service has improved so much I'm imagining you may have shot your level up quite a bit.

When you were on your journey through the states, did anyone estimate you at that time? Compared to then, you've gone up quite a few levels, especially in the relaxation department.

I don't have a problem with lower level players thinking they're as good as me. If they start bragging, other players at the club know my level and don't believe them anyway. That being said, I understand how easy it is for them to think they're better than they are because of how they may play well against someone good.

Some people are good like that. I know some people who don't get it when they get a game or two and feel like they are close in a match when the other player is way better and is just being nice. I think, if you are okay with that, it is fine. Each player can have his own choice on the subject.

However, I personally feel you are doing the other person a disservice by letting him think he is too much better than he is. There are there are so many delusional characters who play this game and, because of their ego, think they are better than they are. I could mention a few random trolls from the forum here but I will leave names out.

Having known enough people like this, I feel that having the reality check in place is often worth it.

It is true guy's like Edmund would let me get a lead keep the simple tactics that allowed me to win or lose points on my own merit. But I also understood what him playing full out was like. So, I could think, "I played that point with the game on the line pretty well," without thinking: "I'm as good as Edmund!"

Heck when I hit with you, I felt we were pretty darn close in skill level. But hindsight, looking back now, I can see that it was just hitting around, and the control you had was superior to mine. Given we had a match even with your only having one eye up to par, I'm 99% sure you would have slaughtered me. But back then, I would have thought I could take you. Hell. that was less than a year ago. You'd still be able to beat me, but I feel like I would at least be able to judge the skill differences a lot better now.

I actually think, when we hit, out levels were pretty close. I am a funny player. My technique is okay. Not great but solid and consistent. And then my serve and receive skills are just weak. And your game skills and playing around and finding weaknesses serves you quite well.

So, personally, I am comfortable saying that I would not be surprised if we played matches and it went either way. Even if I did not have my game face on with that freak eye injury.

Hopefully we will get to hang out again and bang the ball around some more.

You think so? Thanks for the praise.
I played league at princeton Pong. Started with an initial rating of 1500 and won against a 1600, 2x 1100 and lost to a 1700 2:3 and to a 1600 LP penholder :).

Is there a national championships tournament in UAE? Have you ever played in one? I've seen a few UAE locals play in Kuwait/Qatar open, have you played them in official matches? Just curious to know.
