I just got a sheet of this rubber to try out, but was a bit surprised after gluing it on. Previous reviews mention its tackiness and ability to lift balls off the table with it.
So imagine my surprise when it scarcely seems more tacky than tenergy! My sheet has a very, very small amount of surface stickiness. As in, I can press down on a ball with the rubber and lift it up perhaps an inch or 2 before falling back down. Less than half a second or thereabouts, so much for a tacky surface!
Getting beyond that, my 1.9 black sheet weighed 71 grams uncut. Slightly lower in weight compared to rozena 2.1. Fairly heavy and hard sponge.
Playing wise... it has that great tenergy spin! As much or more than 05, assuredly. Serves are wonderful as a result, along with pushes and touch shots.
The sponge/top sheet combo feels much deader than the tenergy and rozena. On bounce tests there is a noticeable difference. When playing, there is also a pronounced difference. I found most of my shots going into the net for the first few minutes when adjusting. The spin is equal or better, again.
All in all, it was just what I had been searching for! Very similar to tenergy but slower and less reactive to speed. Spin wise, due to the high surface grip it is still very reactive. But I got this for a more forgiving chopping rubber that still packed more than enough punch for offensive loops. Works perfectly with that play style. It slows the game down a bit, while still being capable of blistering brush loops against pushes and that sort of shot.
If you find the tenergies too touchy and the hurricanes too dead, this is a nice compromise. Quite similar in feel to yasaka rising dragon, but spin art has more grip to it and higher spin potential. Zero ball slippage.
**to clarify, it feels much closer to a tenergy than a hurricane overall imo
Good stuff! Expensive... but awesome!
