New Loki topsheets are now approved by ITTF. Looking forward to them!
Its still a bit early.
It is still internal testing stage.
maybe it will come out, maybe not, maybe some changes (and update), then come out.

I should be getting my test samples in a 2 weeks or so.

Doesn't registration cost money? Why would they do this if they are not sure about it?

The only examples I can think of are the Tenergy 09c and infinity mxp. That means Loki are getting their rubbers used in ITTF events?

my experience over the years, registration and product roadmap doesn't always go according to plan
there has been few times where items were registered and only out a year or two later.
Some times, not even out and after 3 or 4 years it gets taken off the registration

Anything is possible.

has anyone used the RXTON rubbers aside from RXTON 3 Blue/Pink on the BH before?

looking for a new rubber to replace my 729 focus 3 on my BH

not gonna lie, the many variants of RXTON 3 and RXTON 1 confuses the heck out of me
I do recommend Rxton5 but it is tacky rubber and your 729 is not

I tried most of them.

So far sitting with R3 Pink boosted on BH, will be 3rd time using it today (2nd time boosted).

It all depends on how much power you want from it.
Most of these are designed for FH.

For BH, I would recommend the 39 deg ones, namely, T3 (pretty good), R1 Plus, R1 Special, and R3 Pink/Blue (this is 40deg, but i'm happy with it)

I've setup a Loki Rxton 1 Plus on my BH on one of my Fextras but haven't gotten a chance to try it yet. Will try to post about it in this thread when I get a good impression.

If you are okay with reading translated subtitles, there are some Japanese channels that have reviewed Rxton for BH and like it. A glowing review is the reason why I bought the Rxton 1 Plus.

Did you use the R1 Plus boosted or unboosted? What were your impressions of it?

So far I went through my samples unboosted.
the R3 Pink is the first I've boosted
I also boosted a R5, but didn't get to using it yet

The 729 Focus 3 is a really soft rubber compared to the Rxton series. Is that what you look for? A harder rubber for backhand? What hardness do you use in Focus 3?

I tried the basic Rxton 1 on FH and it felt too soft, so that probably feels closest to Focus 3. It is less tacky than CJ8000, so quite close to Focus 3 in that regard as well.

I'm a fan of the Focus 3 series myself, and I've tried the regular black & red R3 on my BH.

Personally as a BH rubber, I found the R3 to be just okay, and frankly far from spectacular - but maybe that's just me. As others have pointed out, the R3 is also tacky so it's not like for like.

If you want a like-for-like replacement for the F3, the closest ones I've personally found were either a Joola Energy Xtra in 2.0mm (stay away from the Max version as they are a bit too spongy) or else there's always the good old-fashioned Mark V.

if i remember correctly my Focus 3 hardness is about 36 degrees

ive heard that the Rxton rubbers (3 and 1 specifically) are cost-effective BH rubbers so thats p much why im interested

yeah i love Focus 3 too, it is the second rubber ive used on my forehand when i started playing table tennis and i loved it on first use

i dont think a like-for-like replacement is necessary bc i would just get F3S anyway, buying a joola or mark v would burn a bigger hole in my wallet

anyway it might be due to technique (or maybe its because my F3S is 1 years old) but i find that F3S is not really consistent in BH topspin. blocking is really good, but topspin sometimes would just drop the ball into the net. if i try to compensate by putting more muscle into it, it rockets out of the table.

i am thinking that maybe the tackiness of the Rxtons would mitigate this and be more predictable than F3S

Focus III comes in 42, 44 and 46 hardness, but they do all have a softer feel than Rxton rubbers. But the Rxton rubbers have a top sheet that lasts longer than the Focus III, so they will be more cost effective of course.

If you are looking for a cheaper, softer rubber with some tack you could check out Pimplepark - Epos, 729 - Cross General, Giant Dragon - Storm Soft, 729 - Dragon F, Yinhe - Mercury 2, 729 - Master GT/GS and my own favorite Yinhe - Big Dipper.

No sorry, I haven't. It's out of stock for the moment at 729, but I think that it will soon be in stock and then I'll get both hardnesses and colors.

Yeah I know what you mean - I have found F3 rubbers to be a bit like that, but i'm less prone to it with the harder sponge versions for some reason.

The R3 may go well for you on BH - it is fast enough to act as one, and like I said, it goes okay but not brilliantly.

The tackiness may help with the slippage problem (I certainly don't remember it slipping much on my BH side), but it will also be far more sensitive to incoming spin than an F3 or F3S.

If you want a cheap, good quality, non-tacky rubber that is both:

  • An awful lot closer to a regular F3 than a Rxton 3 would be, and
  • Is also far, far superior in performance to the F3 in every way (except in price)

...then I cannot recommend the Palio AK-47 highly enough.

I've tried both the red and blue sponge versions and they are both utterly brilliant. They play like an F3S on steroids -- more spin, more speed, but about the same control as a F3. Currently I'm using both the red and blue sponge versions of the AK-47 on two of my personal comp blades, but will change to using only the Red sponge version when these wear out, as I find I slightly prefer it to the blue.

If like me you really liked the older, softer F3S on your backhand, then I recommend the blue sponge version.

If however you prefer the harder F3 rubbers on the whole, then go for either the yellow or red sponge versions.

ANY of the AK47 rubbers will solve your slippage problem immediately, and should still cost around the same amount as an R3 or F3.

Hope this helps 🙂

It may well be rubbish I'm sorry to say.

Basically with Loki rubbers, in my experience the only ones worth buying are those that are sold as a rubber sheet only ie: WITHOUT a blade attached. These are their proper competition rubbers, made with premium materials, and are usually an excellent product.

Those cheaper rubbish rubbers have the same LARC as the good ones, because they came from the same rubber mold.

This is how Loki and other manufacturers are able to do multiple variants on the same rubber. The sponge and top-sheet material changes, but the rubber mold remains the same, and it only has the same LARC number, because that number is engraved into the rubber mold... but it's very much a garbage-in / garbage-out process.

If you pour top quality rubber into a rubber mold, then attach the resulting topsheet to top quality table tennis sponge, you''re going to get a decent playing rubber.

If however you use rubber with the consistency of dried camel snot, then strap it to a used kitchen sponge...

...Well, let's just say the end result won't be attracting any famous player's signatures in a hurry 🤣🤣
I had a bit of time to play this racket now and I give a little update.
Please do not take this as a serious review it is just my personal experience.
H59d89a77703642688b233ea9345a56c1p.jpg

These are the reasons why I bought it, basically because it is one horny looking unit. 😁
Other reasons are:
I never owned a blade with Koto, only Limba or other softer veneers.
I wanted to find out what I will get when I buy Rxton5 rubbers with blue and black sponges.

This is the review I left at Aliexpress:

""""There is no criticism of the seller, communications were friendly and they are quick to reply. The shipping was fast and I am perfectly happy with the shop. The racket as the pictures and the description is concerned is the usual "sales Gimmick . This combo does not work at all. Considering that the blade is carbon / Koto , with the rubbers supplied it is shockingly hard work. The black rubber can be used on another blade and made to work well. The blade shows potential when fitted with proper Rxton5. The red rubber is like a soggy cardboard and reminds me of a short-pimples-out rubber with 1mm sponge."""

I do honestly not know why the combo , as advertised does not work, it felt gutless , there was simply no power in it.
I also do not have the slightest idea why the blade feels great and is fast with good control after I fitted regular Rxton5.
The black rubber with the black sponge is of good quality and fitted to one of my ZLC blades works a treat.
The red rubber has a very tight sponge but the top-sheet is of a completely different composition
than the ori Rxton 5 and is very soft and thin. I managed to hit some explosive BH flat hits that reminded me of Mima Ito 😇

I am still quite happy with my purchase .
