If you happen to see this at the time of this post and are interested in USA players, Kanak is playing on T2 and Ma Jinbao is playing on T4.

Also, Shinozuka playing on T1.
Ma Jinbao makes it, Kanak does not.

Kanak can win some points blocking against opening attacks. But when he sees his opponent winning a majority of those points, he needs to attack first with his own well placed, strong openings. Otherwise, he's on the defensive all the time and that usually doesn't end well.

Jules did his homework well. And he has the quality of topspin to put Kanak under pressure.

Terrible serving day for Kanak. At one point (I think in the earlier match) he missed three serves in a row. Many others too high or drifting long.

that is the life of a qualification player.

On another day, or another end of the draw, Kanak would have made it through to the main draw comfortably.
and once you do "make it through", then the maths comes in to gain points while they expire, to keep that position

So Kanak needs to make sure he spread out his gains evenly though out the year, else he would have a hard drop when it expires 12 months time.

It's really not easy.
But, he just need that continental boost every year (of which he doesn't have now)
hope he has the cash to maintain a 15~25 match international year.

He will be fine in the long term, definitely with the continental boost but even without it. It is just the pressure of things at the current moment that will affect him a bit since the Olympjcs is on the horizon.

technically, and age wise, yes, he should be fine but how much cash to burn is probably a fair question to ask.
the longer it takes, the sooner his earlier points goes adios.
I have spoken to a few that had the exact same experience (drop of world ranking and had to climb back up)
At first, when they said, it is so difficult... I didn't really understand it.

at least, Kanak gets wild cards into high point tournaments.
else, feeder+contender, won't do it
the continental boost is very important. I doubt he can achieve it without any of this boost or wildcards, as it is mathematically and "luck mode" very difficult.

Great effort from Sid Naresh/Tiffany Ke of the USA, but they lose 3-2 to Pistej/Balasova. They haven't done anything individually in singles at the pro level, but somehow they click as a doubles pair. They beat Chan Baldwin/Lam Yee Lok and Wang Yang/Kulkova in the qualifying rounds and took the WR#24 XD pair to 5 games in the Main Draw.

yes, I believe so.

going to a WTT and knock out in qualification (due to luck of draw for example) is not healthy for the mind and pocket too. Once he has some higher world ranking from continental boost, he could avoid a lot of earlier round gambles (I mean trouble).

A national team coach from Taiwan told around 2 years ago - once you there (WR), it is easier not to drop (due to skipping so many matches). But you need to get on board first and that is where it is costly and based on luck on draw/gamble (especially times TPE player facing each other very early round)

Doubles/Mixed Doubles, I think is a good opportunity for weaker TT Nations to focus on.
sadly, there is no doubles at OG, but there is at WTTC.

Many times, it is singles players that is around to form a doubles pairing, and not a specialised double pairing from national trials to international competition.
I feel the later, is so important, but many federations do not focus on doubles,,,, unfortunately.
Both Sid and Tiffany seem to be in the setup for a long long time to come, so maybe they should make sure of this XD pairing when ever they can.

He missed three drug tests. He will be more careful next time.

not talking about that
he could be injured and come back with zero points or like women's players - getting pregnant etc.
there are so many possibilities on why players are away for months and starting from scratch and face an uphill

that Taiwanese coach told me, it is almost impossible to catch up in 1 year. he said it needs at least 2. 1 to get you up to a level that allows you into contender/star contender, because Feeder is a stepping stone, but you get good players that are also catching up and would knock you out too.

well, Taiwan is in Asia, so I understand that
Kanak just need a number 1 or 2 in Continental, and he can be back fast fast
so he needs to do it before his feeder 125 win, expires.

I know. I am talking about that. He is paying the consequences for missing three drug tests. It should not be easy to come back so that people don't do it for fun.
