XD QF
Ri Jong Sik/Kim Kum Yong vs Yoshimura/Odo (-4, 9, 4, 8)
G2 79, 119

LJH/SYB 3-1 LGY/WYD (9, 8, -8, 4)
LSD/KM 3-0 CDS/KNY (7, 11, 9)
Ham Yu Song/Pyon Song Gyong 3-0 WCT/DHK (10, 8, 9)

Like Hayata at Paris 2024, Odo cannot pull her own weight.
Hayata not pull her own weight in Paris? Without Hayata getting the bronze where Hirano failed, Japan would have a big fat zero WS medal in Paris. Despite the failure of the last couple of points, the Hayata/Miwa pairing gave Japan a chance at upsetting China in WT doubles.

Would you say the same thing about Hirano or DHK if they did exactly what Hayata did, or would you praise them for fighting through injury (be honest)?

Nah, Hirano wore out Shin Yubin for Hayata. Remember, Hirano saves heaven and earth at all times.

Did she? Hayata was like Odo in WT and XD here.

SYB also said Hirano drained her. Like Tieba users said, if Hirano seized 1 of those 2 match points, the odds for bronze would've been in Hirano's favor.

Even 5ch users felt something odd between Harimoto and Hayata and it was clear who Murakami was insinuating.

SYB played Hirano on Thursday Aug 1 (Hayata also went 7 in a best of 7 the same day)
SYB played Hayata on Saturday Aug 3

LYJ is exhibiting the same problem as Harimoto in the last year or 2, difficulties in closing out matches.

Now you're arguing against SYB. Go convince her. Read up on DOMS.

its tough for him... he had 3 match points in G4 at 10-7 and was playing superbly at the time

His losses to FZD in Tokyo OG SF and to Dima in the Bronze Medal match are painful memories

Yeah, they stick and don't go away readily. Look at Hirano between late 2017 and late 2021 and Ito between late 2021 and now.

WCQ: I'm weak.
LYJ: I'm weaker.
nah, dumb ahh Taiwan coach can't even take off his hat to see the flow of the match. It's clear that in set 3 and 4 Wang's ball quality has risen and the original strategy of suppresing the back then go for the forehand kill doens't work any more. He should've called TO for Lin at 10-8 but dude decided to save it for the fifth as if Lin wasn't the underdog.

When he served off the table at 10-8, I knew he was done. Trying to even serve long in that moment was just not trusting yourself. That was when he should have taken his time out. And he served half long at 10-9 and expected WCQ not to loop the serve? Was he serious?

And then he uses the timeout in game 5 down 0-3 - are you freaking serious???

For those unaware, ISEKI Seiko/Wei Qingquang is the coach. He should read my thread "The Art of Calling Timeout".

Hirano did that at 10:8 of G7 against Ito at Zennoh Cup Tokyo. Ito stepped around and hit a FH that clipped the corner edge. Hirano proceeded to lose 10:12 (3 H2H 1 in selection trials). Some may say the player is brave to serve long at the crucial moment, but it can also be an indication of looking for the easy way out. The time Ito did that on match point at 10:6 in XD at Tokyo 2020 was due to pure luck, plus XX was already out of sorts after a 0:8 start.

I can’t believe he actually left the timeout for the last game as if it wasn’t easier to just win the 4th and the match itself.
But LYJ also should have considered a timeout… he could’ve taken it himself at 10-8…….

It's one thing if he had been winning points with such serves all through the match, but missing the serve completely was a pure indication of nervousness and not acknowledging that with a timeout is a sign that both him and his coach didn't really believe in their ability to win.
