So is Odo now at a level where Harimoto who beat Sun Yingsha and Wang Yidi and surpassed Hayata should be losing to her? Youth is an interesting thing, that is the best I can say in Harimoto's defense, More so because playing your teammate takes away your coach and when you are younger, that is a big deal.

I think it's a combination of Odo surpassing everybody's expectations including hers and Miwa looking exhausted. These things happen. Nagasaki beat Hayata at Contender Rio, for example. Shouldn't happen, but happens more often with compatriots as familiarity with style also factors in. But the takeaway, for me at least, is we have a lot to be excited about from the growth of both Miwa and Satsuki. Who's #1 or #2 is more of fun side discussion. It's both subjective and dynamic. Today's #1 could be #2 and vice versa.

They have been playing non-stop for over 1 month, flying across the most time zones, from the T.League (no Ito so no excuse) before China Smash 2024 and then both team and individual events at ATTC 2024 (even core CNT players fell left and right at that point) and then T.League again before WTT CS Montpellier 2024.

JPN and KOR players have it the worst in terms of jetlag +8 hours, and +7 for CHN, HKG and TPE players.

I can add 17~19 Oct, LYJ had another tournaments, so that pushed out his departure to France

Exhaustion is a thing. LSD has been playing all the big events since Contender Almaty going very far in every tournament and getting no chance to take a break, having to still play Contender muscat and Champions frankfurt. It’s why he lost to Harimoto in AC and why he lost to Felix today.

Miwa as well also looks pretty tired probably due to her asian champs as well. Odo didnt play nearly as much as her in AC so i’m not surprised Miwa lost to her rapidly improving teammate today

She is signed up for Contender Muscat (starts tomorrow, but Main Draw starts on Wednesday). Then immediately afterwards, she will be playing Champions Frankfurt. Does she strategically lose in the 1st round of Muscat to save herself for Champion Frankfurt? Hard to peak for 3 tournaments in a row with no breaks in between.

Yep ! same here. I know that I ticked the "watch later" sign on both the semi's and the finals but had to be content with the finals only.Would have loved to watch felix creating the doughnut against LS.

A little convenient to forget how bad she lost to Batra at ATTC 2024. Nervousness was a factor but as I noted, she peaked at the wrong time.

I remember WCT said in an interview some time after getting World Cup 2016 bronze that he failed to peak for Rio 2016.

If you read the post in the context of my prior posts in response to those who sat Harimoto has already superseded Hayata, including yourself, my point is that Odo's win and the asterisks all over the Chinese team at the Asian Champs place Harimoto's achievements in a context. She still has to beat Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu etc. without any asterisks. My point is that Odo is not at the level where Harimoto should be losing to her unless this tournament is a new level for her. Of course you can blame exhaustion or whatever.

Exhaustion did play a factor considering he played the past 4 tournaments in row making it to the final with little to no time to rest. But home crowd advatange is a big reason why felix won today
