This looks hella last minute. Pips player Manika Batra ( I mean at least this screams India) and the whitest asian Gerassimenko whose play style cannot be more European in team Asia? So weird. Prolly LYJ cancelling last minute wasn’t expected but even now team world is missing a member! Really, no more participants in this legendary event?! Is this charity or what?
I wish I could see Timo there as planned in the original lineup back in 2022. A last time international tournament with the 3 goats together?
there are way more serious clubs leagues going on this very moment.
walnder cup should of picked a better timing if they wanted more international stars to take part.
it is clear the Koreans are likely the only "free schedule" players

He’s just doing it for the views
yeah, there is no ways Waldner will make use of pingsunday
in fact, I hope Waldner make use of copyrights strikes on pingsunday for cashing in on an event that they are not license to do so.

The arena lighting is so red-light district...

The first night is so boring.

Well, Dima is taking this very seriously, this really might be his last chance to beat Ma Long. Dima is coming with a great start 1-0.
Regardless, he is destined to lose to Ma Long. New record of 21-0.

Except that luck doesn't work that way (one last time). As pointed out in the paper I linked, even though luck cuts both ways, it tends to work in the favor of the weaker side, especially for a smaller sample size (see the quote below).

...

Before comparing table tennis with card games, know that ML and Ovtcharov have met 20 times ONLY over 14 years (1/2009-11/2023) and the latter is still "expecting" his first win. ML and Mizutani have met 15 times ONLY over 14 years (11/2004-3/2019) and ML even wondered if Mizutani's biggest regret was not being able to win once. Mizutani should feel relieved knowing that he just had had really bad luck all these years and that regression toward the mean would've caught up with ML had his eyes allowed him to keep on playing.

Gerassimenko: They must've have forgotten my nickname, but I thank them for giving me so many teammates this time!

Szocs: Born on the wrong continent.

SYB, 4th place at Paris 2024? Pure fluke.
