Hugo is real. Is he gonna be the first non-Chinese who can reclaim the Worlds after Schlager did it last time in 2003?

No doubt, Hugo in now in the peak condition of his career and has all the tools needed to reach the top.

Only thing is, will Chinese WCQ let him?

Now with almost parity between Chinese and the rest of the world, this final maybe one of the most exciting one for a long time.

XIOM's marketing is either asinine or genius. Their new TMX blades, the one with Hugo's name, are tagged with the touch of Hugo! That's one smart marketing by them. HAL won't give you Hugo's touch. You need muscles and hitting the gym to have Hugo's touch with that blade. HUGO TMI, on the other hand, will give you that extra boost needed to send ICBMs from 6k km away much like Hugo.

It's time for Gozo Calderano to get that Hugo's touch by cashing out Hugo TMX and C55. Forget that weak D09C, C55 is the true Holy Grail. The final is all about Q968 + H3 vs HAL (TMX) + C55. D09C who?

And Wang Yidi 2021 WTTC bronze medallist amongst other things - you need to stop this.
For one, MS is way more competitive than WS.

And as much as people laugh at LGY, he still hasn't lost to foreign players as much as WYD in WTTC and World Cup. WYD ended up last in the selection trial and still got selected for WTTC 2023, where the controversy of favoritism started that led to another controversy for Asian Games 2022 (arbitrary pick of WR week than the one stated in the selection criteria when WYD was above CM). LGY has pretty much earned his spot for every edition.

If Hugo can play 4 games the way he played that 10 point run vs LJK then he wins. But that's impossible. His normal best is probably not quite good enough unless he can keep WCQ nervous. I think he has to win the first game and then front run the whole match.

hugo was the better player, he didnt seem to understand though that with variation, the match would have ended 4-1 4-2 at best. There is no need to loop kill every ball

Feel sorry for LJK also, he is a rallying beast but not the smartest tactician in the chinese pot

It all depends on Hugo's rubber. Reportedly, its durability is less than average. Hugo will lose a lot of quality if he can't get his hands on a new fresh pair of rubbers.

Jokes aside, I agree that his average is not as good as WCQ's average, but it's the final! It's for sure that WCQ will come to the match nervous. He's up agaisnt the same man who defeated him a few weeks back. The defeat was also the worst kind of defeat - he lost when he was already up 3-0! It's gonna be at the back of his mind. Look at how Hugo blew his 3-1 lead over LJK. Good thing he was able to pull it off at the last moment. Had it been a deuce, Hugo would have lost there.

Sure we can explain away just about everything - her world ranking was why she was picked, selection trials only allowed you to replace core players if you were the overall winner back then. The point is that beating her, while being achieved by a few players doesn't make her a bad player, it just makes her an easier player to beat than her teammates. Same with LGY. Wang Yidi has her titles. As a singles player, going by titles, she is at least as accomplished as LGY.

Also congrats to the chinese for being such masters in the mental game

ma long loses 2-0 in rio, goes to toilet

wang chuqin same scenario, LJK same scenario , but today there was no toilet only a hilarious t-shirt change

Hugo changes t-shirt in every set break. The irony

It feels odd that the usually talkative Adam taking a back seat let his female partner do all the talking on the match between WMY and CXT.

Poor CXT, who just seems too nice to fight for the crown.
Nothing about being nice, peak WMY is just flat out better and is the favorite on Sunday unless SYS finds a peak level again.

The fact that Li Sun took WYD off the list of candidates for Paris 2024 invalidates your argument. Go convince the coaches. So please, stop arguing with yourself.

The table tennis is really a sport of moment. The last game of Hugo and Liang shows that: 3:0, 3:10, 9:11, just three pattern changes.

From 0:3 down, Hugo entered the beast mode and Liang resisted with his might and couldn't do anything. Then, when the victory was just one point away, the human psychology got into play and the beast mode was off. Now we saw a amateurish Hugo losing 6 points in a row all by silly mistakes and 3 of them he didn't even touch the ball equivalent of shooting air ball in basketball.

However, his final mental strength prevailed him to earn the final point.

What a match to both players!
Hugo losing 6 points in a row all by silly mistakes

And some people call that, "LJK comeback mode" hahah

She is #4 for a team with 3 players. Taking #4 off the candidates list is simple. Was LGY on the candidates list?

ITTF should ban this toilet break nonsense. I know you are nervous and all but please hold your stool until the game ends! You can't? Let it go in the middle of the match then.

That's what Mizutani argued and remind me what you said about his comment? Stop using that as your argument only when it fits your narrative.

It is in the player's responsibility to control and take care of his body. It is a human "need" only in the amateur level

When you are a pro you can easily program in advance literally everything. It is very difficult to discard such a rule, the same thing has happened in tennis and...chess !
