ITTF WTTC Finals Doha 2025, 5/17-25

Where did you see that? Shouldn’t trust pingsunday. You can buy WCQ’s personal rubbers and both are H3 so I highly doubt he would use something else

WCQ's match reminded me of his complete domination against Harimoto in a big match a while back.

When WCQ is prepared and focused, he is a sublime player. Especially his counter attack/counterloopreally stands out as the best.

Yea H8-20 it’s uses the normal H3 Orange sponge with H8 topsheet.

You can buy provincial and national versions of this rubber from Gan store on Taobao.
What's the difference from regular H8 and H3?

Is H8 sponge bouncier than the #20?

Is H3 topsheet grippier than H8 topsheet?

I can barely see the numbers. You must have a very good eye sight. How can you tell its 24-054 from that picture?
It was hard to tell that, but you can clearly see the 8 next to the dhs symbol

Don't look at the ITTF Number.

Roman numerals for H2/H3 vs Arabic numerals for H8/H9:
狂飚 II/III

(Table Tennis World Championships | Wang Chuqin wins singles title of three major tournaments for the first time, "I wanted to prove myself")
https://www.hk01.com/article/60241784

After winning the singles title of the three major tournaments (Olympics, World Championships and World Cup) for the first time, Wang Chuqin said: "Hugo (Calderano) has been in good shape and momentum recently. I played as if being the underdog. I have been constantly criticized, and even I doubted myself, because my results in the three majors were not good. I was chock-full of drive and wanted to prove myself. As a left-handed player and a national table tennis player, I wanted to speak up for the men's team when everyone was questioning us."

Carrying the expectations of the whole country, from failing in the World Cup to winning the World Championships, the 25-year-old Wang Chuqin said that being the leader of the Chinese table tennis team is not easy. He said: "Now every match feels like walking on thin ice, it is very difficult. That's why I understand how difficult it was for Brother Long (Ma Long) and Brother Dong (Fan Zhendong) at that time. As I get older, I gradually feel that this burden is not something that anyone can bear."

(Table Tennis World Championships | Wang Chuqin wins against all odds and advances into the men's singles quarterfinals; coach Wang Hao changes the game)
https://www.hk01.com/article/60241096

"I was too nervous at the beginning. I felt that I played too entangled and too conservatively. I was always under his rhythm." Wang Chuqin admitted that his performance in the first two games was not as good as expected because he was too nervous. He said: "I didn't make many mistakes. I think a lot of them were conservative, and I was not determined, hesitant, and I didn't dare to make a move."

The key to victory in this match will definitely be after the second game, when Wang Chuqin followed Wang Hao to change clothes. Wang Chuqin said: "I am very grateful to Coach Wang Hao for coming up with this idea, because I have never had this experience before. It is also something we discussed and came up with after the World Cup. I think the effect is very good."

He believes that leaving the court at that moment changed his mental state and made him forget about winning or losing. He continued, "After changing into a short-sleeved shirt, I felt that I was away from the atmosphere of the game. Suddenly, my mind may have become clearer and my heart may have become clearer. Even though I was behind 0:2, I no longer thought about winning or losing. I felt that if I didn't perform at my best, I might really be gone."

...

Gass defeated another Chinese player Lin Gaoyuan 4:2 in the last round, but lost to Wang Chuqin in this game and failed to advance to the quarterfinals. He also said that Wang Chuqin in the first two games was like two different people from Wang Chuqin in the next four games. He said: "Wang Chuqin did not play at his best level in the first two games, and I played at my highest level. But when he found himself, it was difficult for me to deal with his power and speed. It was not easy for me to play at this level."

People will say Hugo is just excusing :ROFLMAO: . I understand how tough was the match against LJK was, so I'm not surprised if he could not fully fit in the final.
I think this is one of the biggest challenges when challenging CNT. Especially in mens table tennis, there are half a dozen to a dozen players that can challenge or beat CNT core players today.

I am not sure how much depth Hugo's bench has, that can assist with his recovery.
I know the TPE staff that has the job to look after the players health and recovery and it isn't an easy task. Given that players fatigue is a result of everything and not just any ongoing tournament.

I know CNT for decades, has a very strong support staff and for countries (yes, not players), to match them, the all round resources needs to be there.

For TPE sake, there was 1 person, running between 2 venues to treat players.... that 1 person was not enough.... given that the community between the two halls is 10 mins with out the queue, or budget 30 to 60 mins

Thiago Monteiro the Brazil Mens head coach posted an IG story recently after the match with a photo of the Brazil Team and Brazil Women’s head coach and assistant coaches with the quote:

"-Quem estará com você nas trincheiras?" "-E importa?" Obrigado.

"-Who will be with you in the trenches?" "-And does it matter?" "-More than the war itself! These days you did more for me than I did for you! Thank you.

Not sure what he is trying to imply with this quote but I’m guessing he seen that people have been noticing that he wasn’t coaching Hugo for this event and people are wondering why. Maybe Hugo thought he couldn’t go to the next level with Monteiro as his coach so he decided to use the assistant coach instead.

That's impossible ... I believe in a sport that several top 20 players have to play without coaches at highest level commercial events, there will be no countries wanting to put more investment on it, except China. So we will have to suffer several years later. Only one Hugo is not enough, so I hope Harimoto, Lin Jun-yu, Alexis, Truls or Anton could have some breakthroughs in order to repeat 2003 WTTC (somehow I don't trust Japanese and Korean teams, I always feel that in single events they can't bring any big threat to China ...).

I think it is important to note the number of people in the 2 photos

so what i'm saying is, one Hugo is not enough
You need a Hugo with some extra support staff.
Without the support staff, the player will not be near 100% at the finals, like we can see with Hugo.
Does the Swedes have support staff? I'm not so sure.
