I didn't follow Indian juniors before, so I actually not 100% sure how strong there are before I made my assessment of them being a major threat to us in a couple of years time, solely based on the structures, funding and population I witnessed during my recent visit.
I believe you start a kid at 6 today, in 10 years time, at 16, we will be dead in the waters.
I guess after following some of the Indian tt during the asian youth champs, we don't need 10 years....
I still believe Indian TT need to import a lot of coaches/sparing partners and accurate the growth.
PS, Divya was part of our Chennai Lions team (one of two juniors to shadow us), and was training along side Fan Siqi, and many other elite players for over 2 weeks.
I chatted to her quite early on and was surprised with her height (thought she was much older due to her height), she started TT at a later age, and really sped very fast to become Indian U15 no 1 and a top position (can't remember the number) U19 in India.
well, now she is U15 Asian champion
