Hi, I'm after a linear rubber that is preferably tacky, and has a hard sponge.

I don't like catapult rubbers, I just want something that gives out what you put in.

Something suited to playing close to the table please.

I thought one of the H3 variations might be the answer but a previous post on here and all the info I have read on H3 suggests you have to boost.

I don't have much trouble engaging the sponge even on hard rubbers so will not be boosting.
I just want a tacky, hard, linear rubber that I can play close to the table, straight out of the packet.

Any suggestions please.
Thank you.

I dont understand your question. Why not just use H3 unboosted?

Or any other Chinese unboosted rubber. Sanwei Target, Loki Rxton 9

Battle 3 38 degrees. Rxton 9 was already mentioned. These are relatively easy to use, still tacky and quite but not extremely hard, playable without booster. Hurricane 8-80 also could be an option.

You should try boosting it’s sooo easy and on top of this it’s a game changer….
One you done it on an H3 you will never go back…

Cheers

Reactor Hyper-Power? Apparently well received, performs decent without boosting.

If you want tacky, linear rubbers, then yes, most Chinese rubbers would do it. But some of them (like AK 47) is not tacky at all.

Cheap cheap: Sanwei Target National orange sponge or Yinhe Mercury II (Mercury is one of the most tacky Chinese rubber on the market).

Cheap: Hurricane 3 orange sponge, commercial. Loki Arthur China.

Higher end: Hurricane 3 blue sponge (most likely provincial) and Rxton 9.

As for Rxton I, Rxton 3, Rxton 5, AK 47, CJ8000, Sanwei T88 Ultra spin, etc. etc., they are really non-tacky.

Out of the above, Hurricane 3 orange sponge has the least tacky top sheet. Followed by Rxton 9 and Hurricane blue sponge. Finally Sanwei Target National orange sponge or blue sponge and Yinhe Mercury II are very very tacky, reminding me of the old hurricane.

The Jupiter 3 fully meets your request. Still H3 is not linear - dead reception and slow play without rotation and a fast ball with strong rotation on topspin, especially on counter topspin. J3 is a more linear rubber and "that gives out what you put in" no more no less. In addition, you can play without a booster, especially on a fast blade, and it is also inexpensive and very durable, especially in red. I would recommend you 38 hardness red color.

Oh dear Sir,

  • Do not listen to those plebians who suggest H3 this or neoH3 that, oh no, no, no... how philistines. No taste and utterly crass, devoid of class. Cheap goods belongs to the thrash bin, not on delicate wood surface.
  • No Sir, you need sophistication and little bit of class.
  • May I interest you:
    Voila!
  • Victas Triple Double Extra? It is hard, it is tacky and absolutely non-catapultities.
  • Xiom Omega 7 China Ying perhaps? With an ESN 60 degree hardness which is borderline psychotic and with tacky topsheet; it will surely make your befuddlement go away.
  • With love; Gozo: Helping the EJ community since 2021.
