Less than 4 months away and still nothing on the venue. TTFI, seriously?

I haven't seen any news of it. But whatever the case, I don't view it in a negative light at all. It opens up a spot for someone else.
not a bad thing for team composition and long term outlook but I would have picked Ito over Odo, Hayata and Nagasaki based on merit.

Ito may be eyeing Asian Games 2026. ATTTC 2025 isn't all that closely tied to selection criteria for WTTC 2026 (2 ATTTC 2025 members by recommendation).

Hayata was guaranteed a spot as All Japan Champion. Also, top 3 by world ranking are guaranteed: Miwa, Mima, Satsuki. Fifth position is by training headquarters recommendation. So with Mima not being included for whatever reason, that probably secured a spot for Honoka with Miyu being training headquarters recommendation.

Nice to see Tanaka's hard work being rewarded. But has he surpassed Uda, @zeio?
Uda was ranked 6th in that specific week (8/19, 2 weeks before the final entry on 9/1).

2025 Week #34 - August 19th
Harimoto 1st, Matsushima 2nd, Shinozuka 3rd, Togami 4th, Tanaka 5th, Uda 6th
https://www.ittf.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/2025_34_SEN_MS.html

2025 Week #35 - August 26th
Harimoto 1st, Matsushima 2nd, Togami 3rd, Shinozuka 4th, Uda 5th, Tanaka 6th

1 Top 3 by WR: Harimoto, Matsushima, Shinozuka
2 Winner of Zennihon Takkyu 2025: Matsushima
3 1 recommended player by Development HQ (Note 1): Togami?
4 Duplicated players in 1-2 resulting in less than 4 players, then players may be selected by Development HQ (Note 1): Tanaka?
(Note 1) Development HQ selects based on 2 following points:
International results;
High potential in international competitiveness

That's how they've done it for a while, going by world ranking when recommending players. Hashimoto and Uda were the wildcards (5th in rank) for WTT CS Yokohama 2025, based on their WR upon the entry deadline on 7/1.

Until 10/1, Uda is still ranked above Tanaka in internal ranking by JTTA.

Hashimoto didn't even finish top 16 at Zennihon Takkyu 2025 so she didn't even make the NT Reserve Players. Sasao made it probably for winning Zennihon Shakaijin Takkyu 2024. Takeya made it probably for winning Inter-High 2024 (It was back in last August and so should've made the previous list in October but the council meeting probably didn't happen before then).

Uda as the top NT Reserve Player is tantamount to saying he is not worse than the NT Players.

Morizono Masataka is now the Men's Junior NT head coach.

Hard to know now that TTFI has recently geo-blocked its own website.

One thing is certain. It wasn't based on WR alone. Entries opened on 7/31 and closed on 9/1. Ayhika Mukherjee was in top 5 throughout (3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th, 4th) whereas Ghosh was 6th and Sutirtha Mukherjee 9th.
