オリンピックレースに参加して、初めて勝ち続ける難しさが分かった。

そして、翌年には早々と結果が表れる。中国の成都で行われた世界選手権の代表に選ばれたのだ。ただ、これまで一強だった中国に迫りつつあるのが今の日本。上位の争いは常に激しく、パリ・オリンピックへの出場はならなかった。

「一番最初の（パリの）選考会では初めて全トップ選手が出るなかで、2位になることができた。想像以上、誰も思わないようないいスタートが切れたんです。でも、（シニアでは）追われる側になったことがなかったので、この順位をキープしなくてはと守りに入ってしまって。そこから、勝ち続けるってことは、すごく大変だと実感しました。そして、いつもそういう状況の中で、トップ選手は戦い続けていたんだというのを初めて知った。今までは傍から見ているだけで、お客さんみたいな気分だったんですけど、実際そのレースに参加してみて、勝ち続けることの難しさが分かりました。本当にいい経験をさせてもらったと思います。行けなかったのはすごく残念だったけど、自分にとってこの出来事は大きい。だから、次は本気でオリンピックを狙いたいと思っています」

It was a better start than I had imagined, and one that no one expected. However, I had never been the one being chased (in the senior competition), so I went on the defensive, thinking I had to maintain my position. From there, I realized how difficult it is to keep winning. And for the first time, I realized that top athletes have always been fighting in those situations. Until then, I had just been watching from the sidelines, feeling like a spectator, but actually participating in the race made me understand how difficult it is to keep winning./b] I think it was a really great experience. I was very disappointed that I couldn't go, but this experience means a lot to me. So next time, I want to seriously aim for the Olympics.")

　１０月下旬にＷＴＴスターコンテンダー・ロンドンに参戦。３回戦で張本にフルゲームで敗れたが、新挑戦に出ていた。中国のリーグの深セン大学でダブルスを組む世界ランク５位・蒯曼（中国）に刺激され、肘を支点に手首を内側から外側に返し強い回転をかけるＹＧサーブを試した。張本戦の１―１の第３Ｇ劣勢で出してから連続得点とゲームを奪取。新たな戦い方を見いだしそうで「最後勝ちきれなかったのは反省点だけど、ＹＧサーブを初めて出して、逆転できたり、新たな試みができた。今後が楽しみだと思えた」と前向きに受け止めた。

They last played at WTT CT Zagreb 2025 and lost to HYZ/CY 2-3 in QF whereas Harimoto/Harimoto won 3-2 in R16 at WTT SCT Ljubljana 2025 the previous week. HYZ/CY is a rather weak pair.

Togami/Hayata have played only 3 events (XTWC 2023 not counted by ITTF), 2 in 2021 (WTT SCT Doha II and ATTC) and 1 in 2025.

It's rather clear Ito and Hayata have their eyes on WD from the interviews.

早田「個人」がどうこうというよりも、あくまでも「マスコミ」の報道姿勢として、卓球界はもう少しバランス感覚を持って、色々な選手を取り上げてもらいたいのだが…

例えば、現時点での世界ランキングに着目すると、男子では張本智和と松島の二人のみが抜きん出ており、三番手の戸上は20位と大きく下がってしまうので、マスコミ報道もついつい張本智和や松島に偏りがちになってしまうのは、ある程度は致し方無い部分もあるかもしれない。

だが、言うまでもなく女子の場合は、現時点での世界ランキングで早田は三番手であり、張本美和と伊藤の方が上であり、さらに橋本、大藤、長﨑、木原が早田の背中に迫っている状況だ。

客観的に見れば、女子の場合はさすがにもう少しマスコミの取り上げ方に「幅」があっても良いはずである。

However, needless to say, in the women's world rankings, Hayata is currently third in the rankings, with Harimoto Miwa and Ito ahead of her, and Hashimoto, Odo, Nagasaki, and Kihara all closing in on Hayata.

Objectively speaking, there should certainly be a bit more variety in the media's coverage of women's scene.

I think there should be more criticism and commentary on the media's approach to reporting, rather than on individual players.)
