Congratulations to Japan's U15 Girls, U15 Boys, U19 Boys on winning it all. A very hard fought battle by Japan's U19 GT, but congratulations to China's U19 GT.... I'm sure the pressure must have been incredible.
Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) won the U15 boys... don't give the rich too much more money please....

I think this is one of the worse team results for CNT, especially so much focus on the youth side in recent years.
while a U19GT result is theirs, I am sure there won't be any celebration.

Japan has done well, so have Taiwan.

I am happy to see India and Italy becoming big threats to the Asians countries too.

well, historically/fact speaking, before ROC took control of Taiwan.
Taiwan belonged to the Japanese,

U19GT F
JPN 2-3 JPN
Aoki 3-2 Zong Geman (-6, 6, -7, 7, 9)
Ojio Y. 0-3 Qin Yuxuan (-9, -4, -5)
Takamori 0-3 Yao Ruixuan (-9, -8, -7)
Aoki 3-0 Qin Yuxuan (7, 9, 6)
Ojio Y. 2-3 Zong Geman (12, 9, -11, -10, -8)
What if Mende was here?
I'm starting to see the potential for Yao Ruixuan that some Tieba users have noted.

2006/09/14 QIN Yuxuan
2006/09/20 ZONG Geman
2006/01/11 ZHU Ziyu
2009/07/02 YAO Ruixuan

2007/04/10 AOKI Sachi (Likely her last U19 as JTTA still observes U18)
2007/12/31 Mende Rin (Won the selection trial but not playing for unknown reason)
2008/04/17 TAKEYA Misuzu
2008/05/15 TAKAMORI Mao
2008/07/05 OJIO Yuna

Interesting to note that both Rin Mende and Miwa Harimoto, who are both eligible for U19, were not here. Miwa is clearly focused on senior events and has the XTWC coming up in a few days. Rin Mende is the WTT Feeder Dusseldorf II losing her 1st round match to compatriot Asuka Sasao. Perhaps she wants to focus on senior events like Miwa.

In any case, this is the most exciting WYC I've watched with so many thrilling matches going on at the same time. And I'm sure there's more to come in the next few days.

For Miwa, the event arguably has no value (though I beg to differ but that is my own personal opinion). Rin Mende, if she played the qualifiers and made the team, should have played, the players here are strong. Qin Yuxian and Zong Geman are superleague players so it builds confidence to win the Singles event.

World Youth Table Tennis Championships-2025 — is the 22nd edition of the annual World Youth Table Tennis Championships. This is also the fifth edition after the 2021 reform of the International Table Tennis Federation, when the championship was again divided into two age categories: Juniors under 19 (U19) and Cadets under 15 (U15).

ITTF World Youth Championships 2025 will be hosted and organized by the Romanian Table Tennis Federation under the auspices and direct authority of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The tournament will take place from 23 to 30 November 2025 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The competition program includes team and individual events in both age categories: singles, men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and team events — a total of 14 competitive events (7 in U19 and 7 in U15).

Qualification Criteria
Team Events (12 boys’ and girls’ teams in both Juniors and Cadets)

  • Continental quotas: Africa (1 boys’ and 1 girls’ team in Cadets and Juniors), Asia (1 and 1), Europe (1 and 1), Pan America (1 and 1), Oceania (1 and 1);
  • Additionally, 6 teams in each age category (Cadets and Juniors) qualify based on the World Ranking, plus the host nation (Romania).
  • If the host nation qualifies through a continental quota, one additional team from the World Ranking is added.
This results in 12 boys’ and 12 girls’ teams in both Cadets and Juniors. A team may consist of up to 4 players.

Individual Events (32 boys and 32 girls in Cadets and Juniors)
  • Continental quotas: Africa (2 boys and 2 girls in Cadets and Juniors), Asia (2 and 2), Europe (2 and 2), Pan America (2 and 2), Oceania (2 and 2);
  • Then 20 players per age group qualify from the World Ranking, plus 2 additional host players (Romania).
  • If the host nation qualifies through a continental quota, the number of ranking-based places increases accordingly.
Thus, there are 32 boys and 32 girls in both Cadets and Juniors.

Doubles Events (16 pairs in Juniors and in Cadets, 32 mixed pairs in Juniors and in Cadets)
  • Men’s and women’s doubles: 16 pairs in Juniors and Cadets;
  • Mixed doubles: 32 pairs in Juniors and Cadets.

Competition Format
Team Events

Team competitions will be played in a single-elimination format. Each tie consists of five singles matches (A v X, B v Y, C v Z, A v Y, B v X). The draw follows the ITTF Knock-Out Competition Regulations. All singles matches are best-of-5 games.

Singles Events
All tournaments are knock-out. Matches are best-of-7. The draw is conducted according to ITTF Knock-Out Regulations.

Doubles Events
All events follow a knock-out format. Matches are best-of-5. Pairs formed by players from different member associations will be seeded as MIX and will not be separated. Mixed Doubles Same knock-out format, matches best-of-5. Mixed-association pairs are seeded as MIX and not separated.

In paper, India should have the best player in the U19 boys doubles matchup. In reality there is no guarantee that Ilzuka is worse than Ankur. India should still take it in the end but they have to play their best or they eill definitely lose.
luckily in doubles, individual stats is not the key, but rather the pairs strategy and ability to deliver.

I recall, some of the best doubles players I know are not the strongest in singles.

and that is why I prefer watching doubles over singles, as there is always a chance any side can win.
