Just let it go now.

this is no different to some people calling Wang Hao, Hao Wang, and thinking Wang is the first name and Hao is the surname.

everyone may know its Wang Hao, but there will still be someone not getting it correct.

double i and li is a common mistake, just like Wang Hao's example - because even today, it happens with many Asian players name (especially on shirts).

and I won't be surprised there is no one else here getting ii and li wrong.
you don't represent everyone and @piligrim did make an honest mistake, just like commentators too, and @TTTT replied very politely.

the only unpolite response is by you, are you are trying to make it become an argument?
Don't become another stiltt (the assistant admin/mod on mytabletennis.net forum)
@Tony's Table Tennis , consider the possibility that just as you and I have a very specific history, @TTTT and I also have a specific history. I think most people fail to realize that contentious interactions between specific users are not why web boards have issues unless these issues dominate or affect threads. The way the current interactions are affecting this one.

When I have time, i will clean up this thread so it can refocus on the tournament.

My apologies, I didnt know that Ilzuka was a special case. And yes I do care about players being treated respectfully not juat young ones, I think if people are maliciously misspelling their names or accidentally doing so and this is hurting the player, that is an issue. I juat have never thought of innocently misspelling someone's name as something that is a major affront to them. Maybe I will rethink that. Thanks for raising the issue.
OK. I'm just trying to clarify the name, because it is a bit unusual and can be confusing based on the way it's written (in which font, upper case vs lower case etc.). Even now you write again "Ilzuka" instead of "Iizuka"... If one looks at the YouTube stream and also the ITTF/WTT results site, it seems pretty clear though.

The bigger issue here is how to deal with "exotic" names, and in this case more specifically the Japanese roots of much Brazilian table tennis culture.

That's even worse, if everyone makes the same mistake and doesn't bother to get a player's name right. That's why I linked to my post from October (prompted by the YouTube commentators butchering Iizuka's name).

I thought you cared so much now about respect for young players, guess I was wrong.

If I don't spell my name people always make mistakes. I am not pro player so its ok ))

Tiago eliminates Kuo. Tiago is the son of Nigerian former international Bode Abiodun. Bode was a Great athlete even if not always technically sound. Beat Quadri and Pitchford in big matches. So Tiago has high pedigree. He has beaten Kiril in TTBL but has the growing pains of the young.

I do not know what your beef is with tttt (i dont see his posts much), but you calling him names in this instance does sound low.

Do you really want to have a long term war with everyone? I thought you said (in the mod announcement) that you are a nicer person now.

Let's continue this on another thread at another time which I will create out of this one. All me to enjoy the glorious victory of a boy who could have played for Nigeria if the country had better leadership. He beat an amazing player you agree?

Can Faraji beat Nandan? ))
Can Nandan beat Faraji? I think at the youth levels upsets are more common but a lot will depend on mutual serve return. But Faraji is the favorite and has by far the more impressive results by almost any measure.
