Tony has added countless of very valuable and insightful comments to this forum
I know there is constant drama between tony, nextlevel, and zeio, but that is their personal thing that I dont care about

I come to TTD to get information about the world of TT. if the ban was influenced by any personal reasons of the new moderator team, I would be very disappointed

I notice no one's asking which mod banned him. That's at least two people now who have been chased away (one of whom was the only regular poster here with any verifiable connection to the pro game) -- by the one who has explicitly or implicitly threatened bans nearly every day since their appointment to the role. And no telling how many others have greatly curtailed their posting, left without announcement, or simply not joined due to the vibes around here lately.

I created this account so I can private message Tony. He has been extremely helpful over the past few months
Tony did tell me that he was once away from this forum previously for many years, until Dan invited him back few years ago. I will probably be emailing him going forth and suggest others to do the same if you wish to still connect with him.

yes, unfortunately this topic has to be discussed. these kind of bans massively reduce the quality of the forum, since there was almost no one around like tony, who had insights into the pro scene

I am an active member of this forum for a few years now. I am honestly not interested in talking politics in a public, anonymous table tennis forum, but it seems like it cannot be helped

@NextLevel you will have some explaining to do. especially the thread about "winner of the month", where you and tony were at each others throat, was very bad for the atmosphere of the forum and also not appropriate behaviour for a moderator. I am not saying the thread was solely your fault, but you should know better how to handle these kind of situations

Tony was banned for 48 hours by myself. I moderated a few posts in a thread discussing the XTWC and we disagreed over how they were being handled. I asked him to PM me or other moderators directly rather than make it a public issue on the forum or I would ban him and he refused to do so because it wasn't in the rules so I banned him for 48 hours. It really is that straightforward.

His account will be active latest by tomorrow morning. In fact, I have considered making it active again already as the intent of the ban was not to drive him away but to make it clear that arguing over every moderator decisions without having it out in private where cooler heads can prevail first is not thr way things will work.

If he is not coming back as a result of my banning him for 2 days, I apologize to all affected. However , being banned for 2 days is not a real ban. It is basically a "let's take a time out since we are not on the same page". The only time I ban people is when they refuse explicitly to discuss in directly with me or another moderator their issues before airing them on the webboard

Feel free to ask any questions about any of this, it is not something I did because I have spite with anyone. In fact, a lot of people think I have dislike for Tony including Tony himself. This is very far from the truth

All I can say is such action seen in the video is not normal.

however, you saying "lets take a time out" is not really accurate. it is "tony, you take a timeout", since you @NextLevel are in no way affected by this. at the end of the day, many people profited from tonys comments on this forum, even though he started controversial debates at times. with the swift ban however, you managed to drive one of the most valuable members away from this forum, moments after you became a moderator. I find it very disappointing

I will note a few things. I never made beating Tony a priority until 1 month in August, where I felt I had a high number of posts and decided to see what would happen if I tried to do it (all in the name of fun). Tony also noticed and increased his volume of posting and brought attention to it over many posts which are in this thread.

You can read them all and come to your own conclusion as to who cared about it enough to highlight it and discuss it. But no one should seriously believe that it meant anything more to me than a game given that Tony had turned it into a public competition.

Finally, I banned Tony for 2 days. If he leaves, it is a pride issue and I understand that. If he wants an apology, I can even apologize. But what I did I did on principle and would have done to any member of the forum who did what Tony did and I did exactly the same thing to zeio.

It's a forum. I think a lot of people think this place is something else and valuable insight or not, certain high count posters adopt the idea that they own the place from time to time.

I say that not to be mean or to twist a knife or anything but the shite that goes on in here with the amount of know it alls who can't admit they might be wrong I do not encounter on any of the Guitar or motorcycle forums I frequent. And I've been on those forums for over 20 yrs whereas here less than 2 so I think I'm well placed to make a comparison.
Cooling down and perhaps realising he's just another member with an opinion might actually do some good!!

You are right, I am actually a bit more cynical and have gone through this on various forums before, so I know what the endgame usually looks like. My intention was not to drive him away. And like I said, there are many reasonable solutions to this for people who are willing to discuss and negotiate. If he doesn't want to, it is not because my ears are closed. I am not above mistakes, all I ask is that we discuss them quietly and reach an agreement before going public to air our differences.
