An interesting experience I made this week:

I glued a boosted B3 40 on a blade a few months ago, played it once or twice and just left it there.

Now, I took it off, boosted it with 1 layer and glued it on my new racket to use as my new forehand rubber.

I expected it to be like all my other B3s / Chinese rubbers.
But to my surprise, the rubber has incredible speed and shoots the ball out very quickly.
On slow shots it's still medium slow, but not dead.

On FH loops the balls gets very fast, very easily with little effort and has good quality.
It's not so tiresome to play fast and good shots.

I needed to close my racket angle more and adjust my technique a little because the ball would overshoot so often.

Is this what a boosted H3 national feels like?

Maybe it's just the reboosting effect and it won't last long but I like it for now and I'll see how it goes.

I'm back playing with B3 and I like it over H3 OS/BS because the topsheet is harder and on hard hits more elastic, and at the same time on weak shots it's less elastic so it has this dual nature. And while H3 already has a dual nature B3 has a stronger dual nature and maybe my feeling and touch sucks but I like B3 more since I can handle it better.

Another reason what I noticed against short pips players is that if I make a decent topspin with H3 or any other rubber they can outplace me with SP and even if I do a continuous topsin "battle" (hahhh I get the naming now) I tend to fall short or fall short more than I would like. With B3 I do the same and they just can't put the ball on the table. Does B3 have more spin? I don't know. Is it more quirky? I don't know. But I do the same thing with H3 and B3 and with H3 I get f@cked with B3 I am f@cking. H3BS has a lot of magic in it, can't deny I do the most stupid shots with it. B3 I do less of those but still a lot and my normal shots seem to work better.
B3 is better against oxidation and has better price. I'm not saying it's better than H3 but like dang it's really there and power players might like it more than H3 because of the harder topsheet.

I tried B3 40 on my W968 and it was a beast. Really!
I am currently playing with Sanwei Targer Pro 3 generation and its ok as from speed, spin and control.
B3 was a way faster, and reeeeealy hard. Even though was boosted 2 layers. But I like the speed!
So I will reboosting the rubber heavily and hope will break the sponge and make it a bit softer.

One question or consideration from my side - I have Viscaria and was wondering to try it out on it, but I guess will be even more harder and faster...having that it is Koto and Outer ALC

I'm currently using 38° red on BH, two layers Seamoon 2 initially and one additional layer after regluing on different Viscaria-type blades (koto, something carbon, ayous, kiri). Works really well but I would prefer a slightly softer version. Maybe the new B3 versions are exactly that. Some discussion on B3 Tiger 4/Discovery and purple versions can be found here https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/fo...ers-that-dont-need-boosting.38053/post-557388

I am gonna try it on my Viscaria today after additional layer of boosting and we will see.

got a sheet for 16€ or so during one of the aliexpress sales, and tried it out on ajh pro (w968)

this rubber is good for the price, I see why its popular. you can do anything with this rubber and it can be used like h3, spin is good, no complaints

nonetheless I dont like battle 3 much. it didnt react to boosting (haifu yellow) and it was slow on my ajh pro. the rubber feels muted and empty and the speed is low. if battle 3 boosted is same speed as my h3 bs that lost boost effect, there is really no reason to play it + the feedback of the b3 sponge is worse too. also the fish smell is disgusting.

I still think b3 is nice overall, especially if someone wants to use cheap chinese rubber with good spin. I just compared with h3 bs (best rubber out there) and here b3 is just worse for me. only reason for me to use b3 would be if it was significantly faster, but thats not the case

@doppelmoral Is your B3 slower in all gears or just when using full power? It should be faster up to a certain point but it needs a thicker contact. Less than most/all(?) ESN hybrid rubbers but still more than a H3 to get the most out of it. That's the reason why I'm not using it (or any hybrid) on my FH.
It should also react to Haifu Seamoon (first B3 some years ago) and Seamoon 2 (last B3s). By far not as much as H3 BS or OS and not as quickly but at least should dome.

maybe medium power on thick contact it was faster, youre right

but on high power it was lacking and the minimal speed benefit of b3 doesnt outweigh the overall advantages of h3 for me

yes, it domed minimally, so technically it reacted to the boost, but the reaction was very weak

again, I dont hate b3, its quite good, but not what I was looking for in a h3 alternative
