Didn’t know you are hybrid Chinese. You just look like a Dutch cheese head.
🤣
hahahaha in fact, im a hybrid myself ;)

My wife is very dutch, from rotterdam, kan je dat niet horen dan, and I myself im very spanish, but have been living in NL for 10+ years and now NL is my home as much as Spain is :)

And yes, I love cheese, the stronger the better, so that's why we live in Gouda!

Just for context; this happened during an open category local tourney. Anyone can play including mid life unker with Heineken certified beer gut included.
Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan and you have really improved a lot lately. But sometimes you leave the goal wide open… I wouldn’t mind being your team mate any time…

Cheers

Thanks for the wingman talk. I would have join you guys at the TTD Dusadorf meet, but then that would mean less money for Heineken and Zyre03, so sorry...

Na it's not a good technique to learn for me. I find even my technique is too big and I want to shorten it more.
There are things you will never understand because you think you know things you don't. That is by definition short technique, it can be made smaller or bigger in response to the incoming ball and the playing distance. But it is the only way to be confident that you have ehat it takes to loop any ball with any quality within your ability

For the last 7 months I have been modernising my backhand into this relaxed but controlled wrists with a very stable elbow position. Next to no flicking motion from the smaller ball days.

After some good old tennis elbow as I physically adapt to it, have to say it is better then the more flicking based BH and better for FH to BH transitions. The stroke is short and fast so it is good at putting quality on the fast unexpected balls and I find it automatically puts me in a position to punch the ball down the line.

For me I have found this to be a more stable BH that generates good power and greater consistency. I think the improvement consistency is what allows you to put more into the ball. Hitting the ball with a flatter blade at the start of the contact and not over rolling your hand seems to make your opponents spin less relevant.

Took a bit for the arm to adjust to relaxed but controlled position (hence the tennis elbow) but in the end my BH is a lot stronger with better placement.

My fh with zyre03 2.5mm

in case you are interested.
I have the same thickness sitting here, ready to put on a blade for my brother so we can test it out. Looking forward to it and was thinking more for the BH...but I guess I will only know when I get into action and put it on the blade....Only concern is that the blade is a Viscaria Super, might be a bit too fast.

Nice to hear your BH journey, very relevant as last week one of the more senior guys at the club came to me and mentioned he has been having tennis elbow for the last 2 weeks. When I checked his stroke, he was tensing the arm way too much from the preparation until hitting the ball. I think the videos above (not the anders lind one, the other two) put way less pressure on the muscles and allow for less injuries in my opinion, this is my experience with a x3 dislocated shoulder, where now after changing technique I barely feel the shoulder with FH/BH. But anyways, as soon as our club friend understood the logic of only tensing when contacting the ball, he said he felt his arm hurting a bit less. I did tell him to pay attention to what physio and doctors said first, not all can be fixed with better technique :)

I don't want to offend you but when it comes to that stroke you seem to lack the knowledge since you disagree.

But the wonderful thing about tabletennis is there are multiple solutions to the same problem. You see only one solution maybe that's fine.

I can't make it either, timing is not right for me, we shall see in the future.
It would be nice to meet up, I promise I'll buy You a beer, something MUCH better than Heineken...

Cheers

Sounds like a fast and furious setup with Zyre 03 :D You sure you can handle it? I wouldnt haha
Tell me about it, I have my doubts! I think this will be a fun blade, not a competition blade :). Maybe for our weekly "Top Table" night for a bit of fun

I found it difficult to stay relaxed while holding such a stable wrist and elbow position, just didn't come naturally to me. I could feel in practice rallies I was tensing up the longer we went. I only truely started to relax this January and have really noticed the sharp improvement. It is funny as it went from really mentally intense training to now feeling relaxed and automatic. Has been a great result for me.

Yeah for sure, not all can be seriousness and competition and growth in TT, where is the fun in that! Share your thoughts when you play it, if you can put any ball on the table hahaha

This is FANTASTIC to hear, well done, it took me a while to understand too, I would compare it to learning how to drive car: it's not easy to be relaxed when you don't know how to drive the car and are all nervous about the gears and mirrors and traffic and stuff, this is me when I was 18, then you learn all that and drive the car in autopilot while enjoying the road. It just takes some time and help to get there :)
