ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2026, 3/30-4/5

I don't, I know Ayhika Mukherjee did once, but unless you can pressure her backhand, Sun Yingsha is unbeatable.
Hana is the girl who can beat Sun – and should have beaten her yesterday with her BH. Goda is pretty much the only one on the women’s circuit who can do this. Yesterday I watched one of the most entertaining women’s races of recent years. Sun was clearly saved by the bell!

Sora was faulted for 25 degree toss but successfully challenged it
I can see why the umpires get these wrong sometimes.
I think people forget with the service that the toss should be as vertically straight as possible, and not at any angle.
Some ppl seem to think (not saying you) that the target is 30°. Forgetting that if it's called a fault and checked to be 25° then it's already 25° away from where it should be, it just happens to be within the margin of tolerance.
But if the margin of tolerance was reduced from 30 to 20° then I still think the players couldn't complain, it's quite easy to toss the ball straight but most of them just don't bother to even try. Instead they push it always to between 25°-35° and make the umpires job hard.
As happy as I am that Sora got his call corrected it really is easy for the players to make all of this go away.
Personally I hope the ITTF get pi$$ed off with all of this and reduce the angle to 20°.
That will absolutely force the players to stop their FAFO approach to it all. 🤷
Just my opinion on it...

Hugo will be an hour behind schedule again, for the 3rd straight match
It's ridiculous. They still do the scheduling with 45 minutes between these best of 7 matches.
It obviously should be an hour between each match to be a more accurate approximation but they haven't changed it for some reason 🤷
I reckon the players already know what to expect though, this happens at every tournament it seems

Seems like SYS will still take this...

WMY looks like she doesn't see a way to gold in WS with SYS around, but can't retire as the CNT needs someone to support SYS for team events. Kind of stuck in between...

WS F
SYS WR1 4-1 WMY WR2 (9, 8, 11, -8, 7)
G1 68, 78, 79, 119
G2 82, 83 slight net for WMY, 86 TO for SYS, 106, 108, 118
G3 35, 65 TO for WMY, 75, 76, 86, 87, 97, 98, 108, 1011, 1111 yellow card to SYS for stalling, 1311
G4 41, 42, 52, 53, 73, 74, 84, 811 Courtesy game?
G5 61, 62, 92, 93, 103, 107, 117

SYS becomes the first female ever to achieve a 3-peat.

Before the match, the RTHK32 host and color commentator were still scratching their heads as to why QYX and WYD couldn't carry out SYS' tactics against Winter... LOL
After G2, Lau Yiu Cho noted that WMY, being short on stamina, pulled out tricks up her sleeve right off the bat that she would've otherwise saved for the latter half of the match.
At the end of the match, the host noted the history making moment and reminded the audience that the last and only non-CNT player to ever win is 平野宇美/Hirano Umi [sic] in Philadelphia in 2016.

If the order of matches were flipped for both SYS and WMY, then maybe the latter would stand a better chance. Hashimoto took 2 hours to defeat (despite the official timer showing that SYS 4-3 Goda was longer) and as Lau Yiu Cho noted, in the 3rd and 4th games against SYB, WMY's shots were getting more and more shallow, indicating she was low on stamina.
