Women's national team coach Satoshi Nakazawa commented, "The women's team, with players and staff united, will fight with all our might to aim for the gold medal." He added, "Many people are feeling anxious amidst the unstable global situation, but this time, we will not only aim to win, but also to bring some cheer and positivity to everyone through the players' fine plays and never-give-up attitude.")

"The training camp has just started, but we want to get everyone in top condition over these two weeks. We have a few more days after arriving at the venue, so we'll be thinking about jet lag adjustments as we go along. Togami had to withdraw from the WTT Champions in Chongqing due to a left knee injury, but he played well in the World Cup. Matsushima has had some pain in his left shoulder since the World Cup, so we'll be taking good care of him. Shinozuka is still playing in the Bundesliga and is scheduled to join the training camp later."
The "twin aces" of Harimoto and Matsushima are a great asset for Japan. And China, along with France, which has the Lebrun brothers, will undoubtedly be wary of Japan.
"Matsushima has climbed the rankings over the past six months, his skills have improved, and he's currently the most in-form player in the world. His strength lies in his ability to score points from anywhere. Previously, his forehand was considered weak, but now it's world-class. His backhand has always been strong, and his serve is arguably the best in the world. His long serves, in particular, are excellent and difficult to distinguish from his short serves. He has a diverse range of scoring patterns. He must have gained confidence over the past six months. Harimoto has also maintained a top 10 position and is in good form, so the performances of these two are crucial for Japan. Of course, the role of the third player is also important," (Coach Kishikawa).
The traditional tournament format involved the top teams from the preliminary league advancing to the final tournament. However, this time, there's a "Stage 1A" with a lower group (Stage 1B) and the top eight teams in the world team rankings divided into two groups. The seeding for the final tournament will be determined by the results of this league.
In other words, there's a possibility of facing teams again in the final tournament that were played in the group stage. Japan is in Group 2, separate from China (Group 1), and their immediate goal is to finish first in their group to secure the second seed.
Coach Kishikawa explains the new format as follows:
"With this new format, we'll be facing high-level opponents, like semi-finalists, right from the first match. We want to prepare to get off to a strong start. We need to field our best players, and since there are no matches to rest players, it will be difficult to decide on their lineup. Even so, we want to aim for first place. That way we'll get a more advantageous seed."
It's typical of Coach Kishikawa not to casually use the word "[win the] championship." However, his words revealed a firm resolve to head to London with unwavering confidence.)

(At the press conference, 4 men and 5 women were present, with the exception of Shinozuka Hiroto (Tohto Kanko Bus), who will be competing in the German Bundesliga. Men's national team coach Kishikawa Seiya commented confidently, "I believe that the 5 men on the team are the strongest 5 in history, and we will do our best to aim for the gold medal. We ask for your support."

(Head coach Kishikawa Seiya, who began the training camp yesterday, said the following:
