Hirano is doing decent against Odo but still making quite a number of mistakes, presumably because she's wary of the quality Odo can produce if given the chance.

With all due respect to Sato and Hirano, it is clear at this moment that Odo and Harimoto are on a different level and the semis is going to be a battle of the planets.

Zhu Yuling is 1/4 semi-finalists, the rest are Japanese. She has a 50-50 chance. I'm rooting for her to win the tournament.
I like her and wish her the best. I dont see her beating Hairimoto or Odo. So I dont think she has a chance even though I could be way wrong.

No one's talking about Sakura Yokoi, but she took out WR#12 (Hina Hayata) and WR#6 (Chen Yi). Even if she doesn't make the Olympic team, you have to appreciate the effort.

She can do it again (or win this event) and then the conversations will flow.

She is playing pretty well to be fair... though the loss to Hashimoto also exists ..

Qiu Dang might be the best blocker in the world even better than Darko. No one talks about it at that level lol....
Mmm, it depends on what you understand by blocking. Desmond Douglas was a pure blocker. That is to say, standing close to the table, racket above the table, and taking the balls just after the bounce and placing them where you want them (or at least tries to:)). For me, that’s the definition of blocking.
You don’t see that much anymore these days, but what DQ and DJ do comes close in some ways, though what they do isn’t pure blocking. They’re usually standing too far back from the table for that. I’d call it somewhere between a block and a counter-attack. But indeed, both of them execute this shot superbly...
