Table tennis at the 2026 Asian Games - the table tennis competition at the 2026 Asian Games, being held at Sky Hall Toyota in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from 20 to 28 September 2026.

2026 Asian Games (Japanese: 2026年アジア競技大会, 2026-nen Ajia Kyōgi Taikai, officially known as the 20th Asian Games (第20回アジア競技大会), also known as Aichi–Nagoya 2026(愛知・名古屋2026)), are an ongoing continental multi-sport event being held in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October 2026, with competitions in some sports having started as early as 10 September. Nagoya became the third Japanese city to host the Asian Games, after Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994.
The Games returned to their traditional four-year cycle after the 2022 Asian Games were postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia. The Games mark the 75th anniversary of the inaugural 1951 Asian Games, held in New Delhi, India.

Participants

Athletes representing the National Olympic Committees of Asia are competing in the table tennis events at the 2026 Asian Games.
Each NOC may enter no more than five men and five women. A maximum of two players from each NOC may compete in the men's and women's singles events. In the men's, women's and mixed doubles events, each NOC may enter no more than two pairs. In the team events, each NOC may be represented by one men's team and one women's team.
The competition is held in seven events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team and women's team.

Playing format
Team events

The men's and women's team competitions are held in two stages.

Stage 1

The teams are divided into groups and compete in a round-robin format. The top teams from the group stage advance to the main draw.

Stage 2

The main draw is played in a knockout format. The winners of each team match advance to the next round through to the final.
A team match is played until one team wins three individual matches and may consist of a maximum of five individual matches. Each individual match in a team match is played as a best-of-five games match.
The order of matches in a team match is: A–X, B–Y, C–Z, A–Y, B–X. (TBC)
At the 2022 Asian Games, the team events were played under the New Swaythling Cup system using the above order of matches. The use of this system at the 2026 Asian Games will be confirmed following the publication of the full technical regulations for the table tennis competition.

Singles events

The men's and women's singles events are played in a knockout format. The winner of each match advances to the next round, while the losing player is eliminated from the respective event.
Depending on the event and stage of the competition, matches at the 2026 Asian Games are played as best-of-five or best-of-seven games matches.
At the 2022 Asian Games, all matches in the men's and women's singles events were played as best-of-seven games matches. The format of the singles events at each stage of the 2026 Asian Games will be confirmed following the publication of the full technical regulations. (TBC)

Doubles events

The men's, women's and mixed doubles events are played in a knockout format. The winning pair advances to the next round, while the losing pair is eliminated from the respective event.
Depending on the event and stage of the competition, matches at the 2026 Asian Games are played as best-of-five or best-of-seven games matches.
At the 2022 Asian Games, matches in the men's, women's and mixed doubles events up to and including the quarterfinals were played as best-of-five games matches, while the semifinals and finals were played as best-of-seven games matches. Medal allocation

No bronze medal matches are played. Players, pairs and teams that lose in the semifinals receive bronze medals.

In my opinion, he played the toughest matchup on the Korean team so his struggle is reasonable and not a function of old narratives.

Nahh, he fumbled the 2 point lead situation in G4, crawled up to deuce then proceed to lost the set. He just doesn't have a sense of placement and safety in his shot, and that causes him to tense up everytime key point arrives
