I was recently browsing on the DHS website as well as on e-bay,and noticed many blades eg the PG12 etc(on ebay).

I was wondering whether these are fakes, because they are not listed on the DHS website.

Any help in clarifying matters would be appreciated

PG12 does exist, same as PG13, both are lower quality blades of HK3 and HH3
Becareful of fakes on ebay

JHB

says Aged and infirm of purpose
BTW which is the proper DHS website?

www.dhs-tt.com

or
www.dhs-sports.com/edhs/

The first of those appears to be an Estonian (!) site which gives details of a subset of DHS products - those distributed to Europe, maybe - whereas the second is the English-language portion of DHS's own Chinese website.

I have bought these PG 12 and 13 pair from taobao. I wonder if anyone knows if fake of these blades exist.

I have my doubt because

1) one of the code does not check out online and the other code, when I scratched it, a part was gone and can't be identified.
2) The lens is not 100% straight on the handle.
3) Ball bounce on the bare blade is low and sound is dull.

On the other hand I thought they can still be genuine because

1) Days after I check mine, DHS changed their website for authentication so my result with the old website may not be accurate, I hope. The old site had not been working properly from time to time. Too bad I did not drop down the code to recheck with the new site so I may never know.
2) I also have the more expensive HH3 and HK3 pair. If I line them up side by side, the plys do match up exactly the same on both thickness and look. I have bought quite a few fakes from taobao before (DHS, Yasaka, Stiga, Butterfly...) and not even one can pass the test in comparison. The PG pair is just too good to be called fakes.
3) It comes with decent box and envelope. And the bottom silver tag looks perfectly fine to me.

I can understand people fake those high priced high demand DHS blades (HH, HH656, HK and HK655) with box and everything. But for a not so popular pair with a low online price of merely $25 (DHS price are cheaper a year ago), I wonder if that will attract anyone to fake them to justify the profit.

I have very cheap Chinese rubbers ($3 to $5) on the PG pair so they can't really compare to the Hurricane pair. But they are decent blades in their own right and well worth the price no matter fake or not. May buy again from a decent source to see if any difference to clear my doubt.

Did you buy fakes on purpose? If not, why you keep "trying your luck" on Taobao?

I will never buy things on ebay/taobao etc, Will never risk blade+rubber, as that is too crucial to sacrafice.
Shoes I will also never buy fakes as there is injury risks.
Clothing one can buy fakes, just make sure you wash it (few times) before you wear it - not sure if any illegal chemical invovled.

If any one wants to buy from ebay/taobao, they must risk going for fakes, and the troublesome effort to fight for refund and all those nonsense.
There is a reason why legalitimate stores are around.
To me, wasting time will cost me more money than the saving, but then thats life - people are willing to travel 50km to save on USD1.00. As long as they are happy about it, go for it.

There was a period I really thought price in China can be dirt cheap and I bought many without reference to what real is like. But after some time I start to doubt their authenticity because the quality can be all over the place. Now I have re-bought all those blades again from genuine sources.

If you know where to look then there are indeed more real than fake in taobao. I have bought genuine H3 Provincial there before for $30. If I can buy PG12 and 13 from place like TT11 then I certainly will, but they are just rare outside China. May be DHS just don't want to upset the market for their expensive Hurricane Hao and King overseas so they simply restrict exporting them. Who knows.

Now I start buying custom made blades from taobao. You can mix and match any handle, structure and even put your own face on it. That is fun!

It's done but only a few words because it is still new to me.

Look for those with a Crown ratings in taobao, more the better. Usually they are reliable. You can run a check on their price across a range of products, see nothing they sell is below average than it is mostly safe. But of course nothing is absolute so best of luck for your hunting, you will need it.

I bought a Provincial Neo H3 orange sponge from taobao more than a year ago and the price is below RMB 200 back then. I see the normal price now is around RMB 200 so the difference is about a few US dollars max. Blue sponge non-Neo will cost about 70% more.

Hm.. why don't you just used this thread?
You started another thread with the same blades in question...

This thread was started regarding Fake/genuine issues.

The other was for a review of the blade-PG12

Never want to mix matters:p
