Both of Flavien's parents were professional players, Same with Harimoto. At least one parent of Matsushima and Lebrun were also professional that I know of. The new model outside of China seems to be start training at a very young age (2-4) with a world class hitting partner (mom, dad, uncle) always available. China has its team structure which works well but outside of China, better have a relative to train you from a young age.

Good point. I am parlty mocking @PoppaChubby when I predicted that Gauzy would have problems making the 2028 Olympics because of Coton and Poret, he lectured me on how France didn't develop prodigies like China. Anyone who watches these kids play can see that some good changes are afoot. Having strong parents that play is clearly a huge part of it.

If I were Chinese coach, between LSD and WRB, I would lean heavily on WRB. Even still young, LSD, I believe has reached his professional ceiling. WRB, on the other hand, has a high ceiling than LSD and he is still only at 75% to the ceiling.

Another swept shows Felix is just cleanly better than LSD and I don't see much LSD can do to reverse the trend.
