The answer to why Tibhar Evolution rubbers are not so popular with amateur players is real simple.
THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of amateur players collectively, whether they realize or not, so many are very sheep like and do not think for themselves or reason well. Some do, big majority do not.
Such will look at what the pros use and what the top amateurs use and out of awe and lack of knowledge/reasoning or a perceived inability to figure it out on their own, simply drink the koolaid and buy that stuff, without analysis or regard for whether it is appropriate for them or not.
I get it, amateurs are amateurs and will never become a pro player. So amateur players should use and enjoy what they want, damn the torpedoes. Maybe a defeatist way to think in terms of better optimizing what a player can use and have better chances to play better... but ultimately, we will not keep coming back to play TT if we did not in our hearts enjoy it and like what we use to play the great sport of TT.
One can argue Tibhar Evo series is not quite as good or is better than the BTY offerings... if you can define what good means and identify certain parameters and criteria and how to evaluate... then you can deduct whatever.
For me, I have different things that I value, number one is on a variety of shots, easy in spin generation.
@NextLevel might agree with me on that principle and totally disagree with me on what equipment makes it easy to do that task.
I may be called a BTY hater, but BTY 05FX on FH on my Persson Power Play blade or my current 6 month commitment on the Waldner Legend Carbon blade, I feel like it is almost cheating at just under $70 a sheet... kinda OK price to occasionally slap on for a huge tourney.
I tried the uber expensive $130 a sheet Zyre... and after using it in practice and a couple tourneys, I can say it does one thing better (fast loop) and one thing way worse (slow/heavy opener) and it is a wash compared to the $33 a sheet Tibhar Aurus (older tech than evo series). I concluded that Zyre in aggregate did not make me play any better compared to Aurus 47.5 sponge.
Ironically, my highest resultant rating came from a tourney where I played T05FX FH and EL-S BH on a Nexy control carbon blade (Batos), almost came out of that tourney 2100 rated.
Even myself can conclude EVO series is worse or better... but I get there by dynamic evaluation and reasoning of what is appropriate and easy for me to do some important shots over falling for hype of what pro or top amateur uses.
