  1. Taking On The World's Best Table Tennis Serves!

Those serves are REALLY tricky to read even after seeing the contact point. He's obviously worked very hard to keep the same physical motion so it's even harder to read each serve.
  2. New Sanwei rubber - first look

Finally ordered a sheet for myself and my friend. 38 for me, 39 for him. We have the exact same blade so I'll look to test out the 39 too once we can start playing. He still has the 38 I gave him after I finished my review :D
  3. A Chinese rubber: first blood :)

    a H3 with no smell is a H3 with no spin :D
  4. New Sanwei rubber - first look

Looks like several other sites have started stocking it - Have done some checking and it's now listed on Megaspin for $37.95 and Spinfactory for EUR 34.99. Somewhat surprisingly, I don't see much Sanwei products on the Hong Kong sites that export internationally.
  5. New Sanwei rubber - first look

Interesting! I loved the 38 degree version. What made you a bit hesistant about trying the 39 degree version out?
  6. Thortonstabletennis

Price has been corrected on their website now £319.99
  7. Thortonstabletennis

Personally wouldn't put much hope in it but sometimes you gotta try your luck :)
  8. Thortonstabletennis

Yes, they're one of the other table tennis shops in the UK along with Teesport, Bribar, Table Tennis Direct, and Topspin. They're a Stiga distributor and are probably clearing some of their Butterfly stock as I've seen them go for cheap before. Great service from them - they'll give you a ring...
  9. Do you play a musical instrument?

Apart from my day job, I sang part-time with a professional modern acapella group, did a few public shows and many private ones for companies. Was also the vocal percussionist/beatboxer of the group. Miss performing sometimes.
  10. New Sanwei rubber - first look

I've now seen that it's available from their UK distributor - https://www.topspintt.com/products/rubbers/659/gear-hyper-38-rubbers £33 (so my price prediction of £30 in the UK wasn't far off the mark!)
  11. New Sanwei rubber - first look

Ah, like Yogi said, we probably have blade sizes. After checking further, I forgot to specify that the Balsa Carbo X5 measures 158 x 150, so is slightly larger than the blade Yogi used. I picked the largest possible head size I could get my hands on to limit the effect of any shrinkage (didn't...
  12. New Sanwei rubber - first look

:D Well I count myself blessed to be in such illustrious company :) Now that it's officially launched, I can't wait for the rubber to be available (and for the coronavirus to go away).
  13. New Sanwei rubber - first look

Blessed Easter! We got mentioned on Sanwei's website :) https://www.sanweisport.com/english/?prod=gear-hyper&fbclid=IwAR0kst0DNaqaKJ0R0MDQxfr-W7sg8uDVDxwcBZxRlMtg9VUhbHN5bpXsoYM And Ping Pong Sport in Thailand - they used my picture from this thread in their review. Not sure I got...
  14. Need Help Choosing a CPen Blade

I used that for some time and it's a wonderful blade - I switched to a Yasaka Sweden Extra because I wanted to fix my strokes and focus more on practice. The slower Extra blade helped me be more consistent with my shots.
  15. Need Help Choosing a CPen Blade

Not me personally. I haven't used that blade to have an opinion on it. Other coaches/people might have different philosophies - I believe most non-professionals don't need to pay top dollar to get reasonable equipment to enjoy table tennis with. If you're progressing your strokes and...
  16. Need Help Choosing a CPen Blade

I haven't used it before so can't comment on it as an option. Looking at other reviews it does seem good but I also don't know your levels and what you want to focus on. Without that info or, more preferably, a video of you playing, any suggestion I offer may be not a good one. Having said...
  17. Strategy for dealing with Harimoto's screaming

Anyway, isn't cho-ing in table tennis much milder than all the grunting which happens in tennis?? We should be thankful https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/09/10/the-science-of-the-tennis-grunt
  18. Need Help Choosing a CPen Blade

Since you're still developing how about going for a Yasaka Sweden Extra? Excellent level of control with adequate speed for many shots? Not a powerful blade but you'll be able to maybe keep the ball on the table for longer. It's also all wood so you don't lose any sense of touch you might do...
  19. Strategy for dealing with Harimoto's screaming

Well, I think we all found at least one way to get an edge if any of us ever play fais... ;)
  20. What type of glue should i use

Another REvolution No. 3 user here. Find it works very well with a wide range of sponges and most importantly, doesn't coagulate easily in cold weather. I've tried LIDU water-based glue as well and I like the bond it gives but I find it lower quality due to the relative ease of clumping
