  1. Fancy blades are just not worth it

Because hinoki blades have their own unique qualities that not everyone may find appealing. Hinoki gives you an easy spin and speed due to its dwell and bounciness, but koto or limba are better suited for a higher level fast modern game, I guess, due to its relative linearity. But an amateur who...
  2. Fancy blades are just not worth it

I was really impressed by the HC-1S. Have you tried other HC blades made for the German market, like HC-3S and HC-6S? BTW I have a perfect low budget plan for any beginner: Invest about £55 in two Sanwei blades: HC-5S and HC-1S. Play for a year or two with a 5S, then switch to 1S and play...
  3. Fancy blades are just not worth it

I am still undecided about the So-Ten handle. It is a bit too rough to my taste and I had to brush it ever so slightly with a sandpaper. It feels a bit thin when I hold it, but I immediately forget about it when I play, so it's sort of a typical Nittaku "thin but good thin" handle to me. It...
  4. Fancy blades are just not worth it

I disagree, especially if you select a lighter one and use slower rubbers to start with. It won't take long to adjust to and it will serve you exceptionally well for the next 10 years. Good investment into a quality blade. It only has little sense if you are starting an EJ-career on a budget.
  5. Fancy blades are just not worth it

I have a So-Ten, it is a really good blade.:) I have recently bought a Sanwei HC-1S on AliEx for £29. It is also a really good blade :D
  6. Returning to ready position

I don't know if it's your case or not, but many players who struggle with multiple FHs are guilty of ball gazing. So always presume that 1) you won't miss and 2)your opponent won't miss. Treat this exchange not as a stop-start, but as a continuum, and you will instantly feel the timing...
  7. Help with shortening movements / being more compact

Tell yourself there is a wall right behind you, and if you won't stay compact you will hit it.
  8. Upgrading beginner setup advice

An Acoustic/Rakza7 is an excellent choice that will serve you well up to a pretty advanced level. And this means many years. Reg. Acoustic has indeed a slim handle, LG handle is chunky, so an Acou SG Special, which is smth in between, should be a safe choice for most. I've had all three, and...
  9. Side tape REALLY change the feeling or not? What do you think?

You won't notice 1 g in your hand, but the tape is not in your hand, so the Law of the Lever kicks in here. The longer the lever arm, the easier it is to notice 1 g.
  10. Loki Honor ALC Review

Aromatic carbon must be a combination of Kevlar/Aramid and carbon fibres. Kevlar and Aramid are the same. Kevlar is just a DuPond trademark for Aromatic polyamide. Aramid is short for Aromatic polyamide. "Aromatic" here is a chemical term and has nothing to do with odour and refers to the model...
  11. Nittaku Hina Hayata H2 Review

I only tried an Acoustic Outer once, and it felt fast, less stable and with a lower margin for error, compared to a H2. OFF- ? I happen to have a So-Ten as well which may be qualified as upper OFF-/OFF, H2 is more direct and feels just a bit faster. As for the arc, I have Rakza Z on my BH...
  12. Nittaku Hina Hayata H2 Review

No arc, low throw, more speed,... spin feeling when you serve and push - what you described was pretty much how H2 plays.
  13. First blade for beginner+. Help choose and advice.

Tabletennis11 has Nittaku Acoustic on sale for 87 Euros atm. Great value for this blade. Ask for a lighter one, about 82-84 g ( 90g+ are a bit too fast and hard to manoeuvre for a beginner), also ask them to lacquer the blade and put Rakza 7 2.0 mm on both sides, and you are set for the next 3...
  14. First blade for beginner+. Help choose and advice.

+1 Avoid XIOM Vega X, it is fast and bouncy, will be difficult to control.
  15. What is the meaning of CONTROL in a game?

Oh, c'mon, it's just the most basic stuff, don't tell me you didn't know it ;)
  16. What is the meaning of CONTROL in a game?

Control is not for beginners, kids or elders, it is essential to win matches at any level, regardless of your style. There are 3 main aspects of control at the strong beginner/intermediate level: 1) strategy, 2) execution and 3) psychology. (There are some other factors, but we omit it for...
  17. Hina Hayata H2 comparisons

Joola Rossi Emotion, or Butterfly Freitas if you prefer it faster. Freitas is an outer carbon blade, but the thick outer limba ply makes it feel woody and more like an inner blade to me, loved it with Ten05. Low throw. JRE is so nicely balanced and spinny thanks to outer hinoki+kiri plies, it...
  18. Best Single Ply Hinoki Blade on Ali Express for a 13 Year old! and thenbest Price/Performance Single PLy?

Does it have to be a hinoki blade? If you want to give him something special that is worth keeping in the family, why not have a look at the spruce blades made for Nittaku by the German Soulspin company? Spruce is kinda similar to hinoki. Nittaku Meister series look gorgeous, made of 300 years...
  19. Burned 2k cals playing table tennis yesterday

You're not being rude at all. These debates have been heated for quite a long time. Energy balance is a fact, there's no question about it, so counting kcal may make perfect sense for some, definitely when it comes to sports. Problem is, many think that counting calories on its own will solve...
