  1. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Hi, yes, I've been playing with my 3 new blades lately - 7P-2A.C, Joola Rossi Emotion and Nittaku S-CZ. All have a nice, controlled, soft touch, all have a carbon layer which kicks in when hit hard, all about 82g and all have Rakza Z on both sides. All three in my view are really good blades...
  2. New all-wood blade recommendations wanted

I have a Violin with G-1, a good bat but not my cup of tea really, and still have a YSE with Rasanter 37 which is also a good bat for a beginner, very safe, but kinda dull.
  3. New all-wood blade recommendations wanted

Forget the aesthetics, Acoustic/Rakza 7 is an excellent match, I used to play with it some time ago. 85-90g Acoustic/Rakza 7 is fast enough for any amateur player, with great control and good spin. If you're at a higher level and this combo won't be offensive enough to you, you can swap R7 for...
  4. What kind of rubber for playing with slow backhand stroke?

This rubber helped my BH a lot. Some rubber, an old blade and a couple of 3mm steel plates.
  5. New all-wood blade recommendations wanted

Nittaku Acoustic is written all over your post. Go for SG if you don't like thin handles. Aforementioned Yasaka Sweden Extra is a slow All+ blade.
  6. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Never tried it, but it should be fast and bouncy in short game, so you'll need soft hands and good feel to control it. Just my guess It's all very personal. My experience shows otherwise, they all feel very different depending on the thickness and the wood under the top ply. And I prefer...
  7. Nittaku Acoustic vs Septear vs Xiom HAL

Acoustics also do not have any problems with the glue used for the manufacturing, unlike with 986 which is the reason why a 986 loses its unique qualities in a year or so, and top players need to change their 986 regularly. Quite a bugger considering the price.
  8. Nittaku Acoustic vs Septear vs Xiom HAL

LG is much larger than the regular FL. In fact it's one of the largest if not the largest handle I have ever tried. It was so large I sold it eventually. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have really large hands. Someone wrote here it's like a chair leg, and I agree. SG Special is somewhere in...
  9. Nittaku Acoustic FL handle size comparison with other blades

If you won't be able to play with a handle that is a little smaller than HarALC, then just save a bit more and go for Acoustic SG Special, even if you can't find it for a cheaper price, it has a great handle. I have all 3 - FL reg, SG and LG. LG is large and chunky like a chair leg. SG is...
  10. Need rubber recommendations for my new blade

I tried it and didn't find control and spin to be the strongest points of this blade. First and foremost it's a fast offensive blade with flat trajectory and rather short dwell. It felt like a blade for an advanced, fast and very aggressive player. GA8 is also a tenacious offensive rubber, it...
  11. How to increase the "weight" of a powerful loops in term of both spin and speed?

I'd like to add one thing to what was said above: the hitting point. Thing is we are not robots, we are made of flesh and bones, not metal gears and levers. Therefore we are unable to produce a constant swing. Our swing speed has a bell curve, we accelerate, reach the highest/fastest point for...
  12. Seeking Equipment Advice for Rapid Improvement in Table Tennis

Some good advice here. All I can say is: 1. Choose the blade and rubbers that you can use without the handbrake. It will help you to quickly develop proper technique and movement. The bat which allows you to consistently place the ball where you want and to control the bounce and the amount of...
  13. How far would my setup take me ?

+100. Sanwei Fextra is a good blade, don't be deterred by the low price. It is moderatly fast, spinny, has a good dwell and feel, great handle, good balance, classic composition - all you need to get to a pretty advanced level. It can serve you well for the next 2-3 years easily. You might as...
  14. Comeback rubber recommendations?

It's definitely your technique, not the equipment. I guess you're just rusty as already suggested. Don't think about your bat, there's nothing wrong with it, concentrate on your legs, positioning, preparation, hitting point and the blade angle. You might lack timing, have an inconsistent hitting...
  15. Complete video guide: How to cut and glue rubbers on a table tennis bat

This thread cost me £15. Bought the cutting table, finally )
  16. Best racket case?

I've got a couple of LOKI cases, decent quality but nowhere near Stiga. The one on the right is quite small, so a racket sits tight, and a larger size bat won't fit. Didn't buy the coffin type because I don't like rubber bands inside.
  17. Best racket case?

Their double cases are also great. Stiga cases are protective and firm enough before it gets cumbersome. Some other cases I've had were either flimsy or designed for some kind of a military operation and to withstand a rocket attack. These Stiga ones are just what I need.
  18. Best racket case?

The best cases that I own are all from Stiga. Top quality, stylish and very well designed. If only they paid as much attention to the manufacturing quality of their blades :D . Not the cheapest, but it's well worth to spend a bit more in this case. (pun unintended)
