Very interesting that there's so much difference in the playing characteristics between the 38 to 40deg rubbers. But your review makes it sound as if you were always fighting to mitigate the main features of the rubber. What main characteristic made you persevere with it for a year?
  3. Post your latest EJ purchase

Uh uh. You're in trouble. Once you go down the path of handmade blades, there's no way back. Trust me, I've been there, and I am still there.
  4. Soulspin air pressure

I've used my peli case for years. Unscientific appraisal, but it Definitely keeps the bat fresh, I think 🤔.

I thought that that only happened to old people like me
  8. Is it possible to improve with only robot training?

"However, the title of the thread states that you can improve only with a robot. Of course, you can improve, but not to the scale of either playing with other people or coaching" Careful, we are in agreement but most writers on here use the language imprecisely. The ones who do tend to be the...
  9. Is it possible to improve with only robot training?

Sorry, but the negative replies here are not looking at the wider picture. What op is on about is solo training. This involves much use of the robot itself. But will also include serve practice, striking the ball after bouncing off the table, striking the ball from off the table, shadow...
  10. What's the most random point you have ever scored?

Most occuring random point; Server serves but the ball strikes the edge on his side, then loops to about 1.5m above the net then lands on the edge of the receiver's side. I have done it, also had it done to me, and I have seen it in others' matches.
  11. The twin for Dignics, China born.

Lodro, the Richard Pryor fan :giggle:
  12. Best short push tutorial bar none

It depends on your style. Some players start with a completely flat bat then close the bat to a vertical position. This gives them the option of flicking or keeping the ball short. Master of this is Paul Drinkhall. If you ever get the chance to see him play live, get as close to the action as...
  13. Best short push tutorial bar none

Nope. It's very similar to Timo style return. What he's basically demonstrating is to be very active in your returns as compared to simply neutalising the spin when putting back the ball.
  14. Best short push tutorial bar none

The Fang Bo tutorials are really interesting. But the thing that he inadvertently displays is the difference in technique/stroke-smoothness, between extremely good players like his sidekicks and a top 10 player like himself.
  15. Best short push tutorial bar none

Think of how you disguise a hook serve topspin. Remember that the incoming ball has lots of spin so you, the receiver, have lots to play with on your return. I think that's what Blahness is saying.
  16. PingPod UK is here!!

    Great facilities.
  17. Protection sheet for Dignics 09c

Try the ordinary cling film. One sheet can last a couple weeks with removal/replacement. But refresh as often as you like. Cling film is cheap. Definitely use when storing long term eg. Your collector bats.
  18. Latest video from Tony

Unfortunately, It does happen. Especially the dehydration bit. Umpires concentrate so continuously that on many occasions they simply forget to take in the necessary amount of liquids. Or they forgot to bring a bottle to the table and try to man it out. As players in that situation, we have to...
  19. Latest video from Tony

Assuming that he's an experienced umpire, I suspect that he was either extremely tired, dehydrated, ill or a combination.
