  1. Blade broken in half, did this ever happen to you?

I've seen this type of damage before, it happened when some sat onto a chair when a bat (inside a flimsy case) was laying. Without the handle piece the pressure over the whole bat would be quite even, but the handle piece sticks out, making the pressure very uneven, and cracks in-line with the...
  2. Victas VS>401 my impressions

I'm a long term user of the Victas 401, and have tried many other rubbers, including the D09C, but I always come back to the 401. I broadly agree with your review, just some subtle differences, which are no doubt because of different technique. The topsheet of the 401 is quite soft and a little...
  3. How to deal with the long pips fast swipe??

If you can float the ball back instead of pushing it with backspin, you'll make it much harder for the player to side-swipe it aggressively.
  4. How to deal with the long pips fast swipe??

It's going to have some topspin, so I would try and loop it. Just watch the ball very carefully and don't loop too hard. As others have said already, if you do need to push, try and keep it deep, making it harder for him and reducing the angles he can get.
  5. $12 Fake Tenergy Review

Although a review is always welcome, there is no reason to believe that if another person buys a fake Tenergy, that it will be the same, or even close in performance. Any Chinese manufacturer could make this rubber, and there is NO requirements on it's characteristics (apart from looking the...
  6. Discussion on the use of bastard rubbers. Moved to this forum from OOAK.

He didn't get banned, I have no idea what he's on about!
  7. 3d printed paddles + rubbers

Sounds like an antispin. BTW They looks awesome!!!
  8. H3 style rubber for bh

Why not stick with the hurricane 3 if you loved it that much?
  9. Blade sealing w968 help

Many blades splinter easily after the first removal, even when glued with proper glue. Think of the Stiga allround or offensive classic, if you don't seal those you'll peal off splinters after the first or second removal. The polyurethane sealers are the best, but even the table tennis ones...
  10. Dignics 09C on an Allwood blade

I think it will work very nicely on an all-wooden blade, and will be more controllable and easier to topspin, which sounds like what you're after. I've used it on off- wooden blades before and it felt controlled and very spinny. It will just lack a little topspeed, but should offer plenty of...
  11. How to measure blade frequency?

I agree completely. It can provide some valuable information when comparing similar blades (tested by the same person and method), but it's difficult to turn the values into useful characteristics and you can actually experience. Certain constructions also give values that are way off the...
  12. "Not clear" serve is еxplicitly prohibited by the Rule 2.6

It's something that could probably be computerized. A pair of cameras on either side of the receiver need to track the ball and detect the time of contact during a serve. At that point in time it can take a snapshot and calculate if the ball was obstructed. It can call a fault and provide the...
  13. Victas VS > 401

If you brush loop, it is indeed quite slow and extremely spinny, which is why I like it so much. But if you engage the sponge is has good power and a high top speed. It does not have the kick or the gears that T05 or D05 has, but it's quite linear and a high top speed. The sponge is hard and...
  14. 1 ply Hinoki Clear Epoxy Around prevents breaking

Perhaps I didn't explain that very well. The feel on contact felt nice, but the blade vibrated weirdly after the ball had left, that's the bit I didn't think felt right. I've never felt this in any other blade.
  15. Currently not approved anymore rubbers?

The LARC is the official ITTF list of authorized rubbers. A rubber does not appear on the list unless the ITTF has authorised it. If it's going to be removed, the LARC lists which rubbers are going to be removed, which won't happen till the next LARC is released (every 6 months). Umpires and...
  16. 1 ply Hinoki Clear Epoxy Around prevents breaking

The tighter grain is generally preferred, as long as it's straight as well. It's not just about the feel of the 1-ply, it's also the vibrations. 1-ply blades often have excessive vibrations, which is something most players would not like. This is where Kiso Hinoki is special, as the vibrations...
  17. Currently not approved anymore rubbers?

If they're on the ITTF LARC (which are they!), then they're still approved. The LARC still has plenty of rubbers without the numbers, so these are still perfectly legal. Eventually all rubbers will have a number, but this will probably take a few more years. You can find the LARC here.
  18. (Humour) New US rubbers

While I agree in principle, discussions on politics can be highly divisive since it's a topic that people are usually very passionate about. This often leads to heated discussions and personal attacks. This can be very tough and time-consuming for the moderators, so they'll have to decide if...
  19. An Jaehyun back to W968

Yes I fully agree, a really good point!
  20. An Jaehyun back to W968

It's not really an ethical issue, it's a business transaction where you sign a contract and agree to the terms. Brands can set their own terms and condition, there is no 'standard' sponsorship deal. I agree with you though, that if you agree to use their equipment and then use something else...
