  1. How many layers of glue?

If you are using a good glue with enough rubber solids like Copydex, you only need one layer on each side of the surfaces to be joined. If you have the free time, it would be better spent on other things rather than waiting on extra layers of glue to dry. One of the reasons people use multiple...
  2. What Glue should I use?

You are in the UK. It should be easy and relatively inexpensive to get Copydex. That is the most reliable water based latex glue I have ever used. It is consistent, has a good amount of ammonia so it does not curdle while it is being applied and has enough rubber solids to make a good bond even...
  3. Sanding your blade

As you have guessed, the folks sanding their blades to prep it for regluing are doing it wrong but it will work for a little while until the sanding starts removing enough wood. You remove left over glue by using something called a rubber cement eraser. It is basically a block of latex.
  4. ZJK latest rumor

I thought the story with Kong Ling Hui was he was on the hook for the gambling debts of his relative whom he brought as part of an entourage to a casino and this relative kept overspending. Then some folks used the incident to get him fired/demoted as part of a political purge. Did someone else...
  5. Fastarc G-1 vs V>15 extra on backhand

Their measurement probably got some of the hardness of the sponge as well. My recommendations are from personal experience owning and playing all the rubbers I mentioned.
  6. Fastarc G-1 vs V>15 extra on backhand

I'd say the G-1 has a medium hard top sheet. If you want a softer top sheet but still have a firm(ish) sponge, try the Hammond Z2. Also stay away from the Vega X. These folks measure rubber hardness from the topsheet. You can browse their videos for the hardness and also low end rebound speed.
  7. Nittaku Gyo-En Review

Could it be possible there was a manufacturing defect or variation? Can anyone else chime in with a similar experience with the blade? I'd send it back to the retailer for inspection if it were me. There could be some sort of crack in the blade.
  8. Lost interest in WTT

Unfortunately due to the 40+ plastic ball you will probably never see the kind of spin artistic play from any Chinese team player again as that is not a viable style anymore. The Chinese coaches even tried to make Xu Xin change his style of play but to no avail. The new style of table tennis is...
  9. I'm currently in full EJ mode. What other rubbers should I try?

I have had my go at a stiffer yet soft Hinoki blade similar to the Strato in the Garaydia ZLC. I discovered that the stiff Hinoki is great for attacking and blocking but when it comes to looping slow underspin balls, for me a more flexible blade works better. My current blade is the Long 5 Light...
  10. best glue?

The two most reliable glues I have used is Copydex and Donic Formula First. Copydex is a conventional ammonia/water based latex glue that is very consistent and has enough ammonia to keep the glue from curdling on the blade and enough rubber solids to make a good bond. Availability may be iffy...
  11. I'm currently in full EJ mode. What other rubbers should I try?

If you are in a full EJ mode, the question you should be asking is what blade types should I try/buy. The blade is the basis for feel and many other fundamental properties. The rubber does make a difference, but if you are going for performance inverted rubbers, the difference between brands...
  12. Racket recommendations

I would argue against Rakza 7 soft. It is way too soft and slow when I tried it. An allround player needs to attack sometimes and Rakza 7 soft simply does not support it very well especially in the age of plastic balls. I would use Rakza 7 and/or Fastarc C1 instead. You would generally want to...
  13. Mark V correct spelling ?

Put ファイブ into google. It it says five for those who who don't appreciate misdirection as humor.
  14. Rakza XX Review

From just numbers alone from the Anatomic Edge youtube channel, it looks like the Rakza XX is made to match the Dignics 64 and Hammond Z2.
  15. all roads lead to Rome...

But probably not as much as hookers and blow or golf or a yatch. Unless you are some Butterfly fanboy and will not try any other brand, it's still considered a relatively inexpensive hobby I think.
  16. SDC Handmade Blades

Sergio must be a mind reader as I was thinking of a blade like that after reading about the Carbonado 45 from before and the Joola ZQH Hyper ARY-c 45. Now I am the lucky early bird.
  17. all roads lead to Rome...

This is also true, but as an EJ we move on when we find a Hurricane alternative that does not require boosting. Life is simply too short to waste waiting for the booster to take and then waiting for the dome to come down a bit. Could be days of waiting I tell you. Forget that. I might sell off...
  18. all roads lead to Rome...

Correction: if you love EJing, whatever you do, whatever you try, if you stay in TT long enough you'll eventually TRY Tenergy or Dignics. Then you figure out theres similar or better out there for less money and the same or better durability and wonder what kind of contact drug Butterfly have...
  19. all roads lead to Rome...

DHS might not but other manufacturers surely have, at least for me, in the form of Loki Arthur China. And yes I have an extra sheet of Dignics 09C which I'm in no hurry to put on as the other one I already have on one of my blades did not really impress me except for the price.
  20. Should I stick to the ALC blade as a beginner?

If you have no issues playing with it and don't feel an issue with control then perhaps you got a specially controllable specimen of the Pro 01. Be glad and don't feel pressured into going for something else. Does not mean you can't try out the blades of your club mates to see what is out there...
