  1. Feedback on my League games

Pre-move means moving toward the position before the ball is launched, if a drill from a robot is set fast enough then it'll launch the ball as soon as you finish with your last stroke, so there'd be zero time for pre-moving. This forces you to recover as quickly as possible and make the most...

Yes, I mean in drills. Footwork isn't just moving your feet, it's knowing when to move your feet and how to most efficiently move them. A slow Falkenberg is not very useful for that reason. Footwork drills need to stress your footwork, it needs be such that you can barely get your feet set in...
  3. 34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup 2025, Shenzhen, 2/19-23

Also, KM continues to surprise, this time taking down WYD convincingly. Having beaten WMY and WYD the last couple of tournaments means she's now overtaken QTY as the one to take the spot vacated by CM.
  4. 34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup 2025, Shenzhen, 2/19-23

What a battle between HYZ and LYJ! LYJ's experience won out in the end, with HYZ making a couple of relatively simple (for pros) mistakes near the end. LYJ vs. WCQ is gonna be a great one to watch tomorrow, and HYZ can hold his head up high as he appears to be cementing his position next to...

Falkenberg needs to be fast enough that you never wait for the ball to be truly useful. Otherwise you'll be dealing with the same pre-move issue. Robots can be helpful for certain things, I sometimes set it up even when my training partner comes over. The rapid FH/BH shot to a single spot is one...
  6. Feedback on my League games

You'd be surprised how much you can improve even knowing where the ball is going. The issue most people have when they know where the ball is going is that they pre-move to that spot. Pay attention to that, eliminate that either by forcing your self not to move (but be ready to move) until your...
  7. Feedback on my League games

Right now you need to focus on opening up first so you don't need to counter in the first place. There's nothing wrong with your counter for your level, the issue is you should try to avoid getting into that situation in the first place. For quality I mean more of everything. You might have...
  8. Feedback on my League games

It's not a matter of laziness, so not a willingness or effort to move, but a matter of training. Is footwork a part of your training? There are ways to train footwork even without a great training partner. Multiball would obviously be the easiest, but say your partner can only block the ball...

Hmm I think the W968 is a bit faster, I think for speed differences it won't make a big difference for your game. I must've misremebered re: boosting then, I've found the D09c QC to be fairly good, they've been pretty consistent for me. As for the pairing, sometimes on medium powered shots the...

  11. 34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup 2025, Shenzhen, 2/19-23

How did CYY and Kao make it out of their groups? CYY was in a 3-way tie and won 1 less set than Quek as well as the head-to-head against him (Thakkar won the least sets so he should be out). Kao was also in a 3-way tie and won the same number of sets as Gerassimenko but lost the head-to-head...
  12. Feedback on my League games

A couple things: 1) Yes, I watched the whole match, and I saw those attempts to attack his serves with your BH. My question is, why the BH? And why over the table? They're almost all services you should loop with your FH, with much more power. Over the table BH loop is one of the most...
  13. Feedback on my League games

Once he topspins you basically already lost. He's serving you a lot of attackable balls and you either just soft push it or loop it with the weakest spin. Punish those serves, attack them with a harder loop when they go long or a faster push when they're short. If you attack with a push, be...
  14. Feedback on my League games

While I don't love the D09c/HL5 pairing the difference you're perceiving is all technical. I've tried a whole bunch of rubbers on the HL5/W968, the technique doesn't vary that much, just slight adjustments here and there. Didn't you boost your first pair of D09cs? Are you still boosting? Hope...
  15. Forehand Topspin Like Ma Long | 5 Tips

Right, and the issue is that @Dan keeps his arm rather stiff from elbow onward, throughout the stroke. I believe he does it for both FH and BH, and is a big reason why his shots have a lot less power than other TTD members because he has very solid body usage otherwise. His wrist is never fully...
  16. Forehand Topspin Like Ma Long | 5 Tips

It's not a bat angle thing, it's the wrist movement that causes those differences. If you keep your wrist loose and snap at contact then it should be in-line with the arm before contact and be at 45+ degrees afterwards. Those 2 pics in the thumbnail are presumably taken at different point of...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So I'm continuing to make progress with my FH, but my improvements on the BH side is what's been raising my level. My defense is now pretty solid, winning me a lot of points. My BH opening loops are solid now too, and service receives have been improving. Not being afraid of getting attacked...
  18. best tt shoe?

I second that, got a Li-Ning 41 (US 8) and it was more like 7.5. OTOH I have a pair of Mizunos that are like US 8 and it felt a bit loose. Incidentally the Li-Nings have thicker insoles so I swapped insoles between them and now they're both wearable, though the Mizunos are still larger.
  19. How do I improve my backhand? (closed)

Wrist snap is not the most important, most important is forearm snap. Try to generate good quality and get the feeling of holding the ball and releasing it with minimal wrist usage first. Just keep your wrist loose and then tighten up right at impact, use primarily the forearm swing (i.e...
  20. WTT Singapore Smash 2025 (30 Jan ~ 9 Feb 2025)

Yeah he used to have a weak FH, but he's improved it a lot the past few months. He now has a much more forward FH stroke in rallies and is able to get his body into the stroke much more. His biggest enemy in the immediate future will be video reviews, which will put a stop to his hidden shovel...
