  1. Anybody else find HK1997 Gold a lot softer than its advertised?

Well HK1997 throw angle was way too low on BH, so I tried playing it on FH. On FH, the throw angle problem isn't nearly as big of an issue, but then it also introduces a lot more problems. 1) the sponge is just way too soft to be a proper FH rubber. on any type of powerful shot, the sponge...
  2. Miwa Harimoto

Yes I've always thought that Miwa plays more similar to Chinese style. Li Xiaoxia is a good comparison, although Miwa doesn't have the same physical presence. It makes sense because her main coach has been a Chinese former player.
  3. Anybody else find HK1997 Gold a lot softer than its advertised?

I put those 2 rubbers on the yinhe V14 Pro outer alc blade. But since the throw angle of HK1997 was so low, I thought that next time I should try the same 2 rubbers on Fang Bo ALC.
  4. Anybody else find HK1997 Gold a lot softer than its advertised?

I actually paired hk1997 on BH with nittaku h3 orange on Fh. Hk1997 weighs 40g, very light. Nittaku h3 weighs 56g, quite heavy. I paired them together so that the weights balance out, and 96g total is fairly normal. I dont think i have a way to solve the low throw angle on hk1997. Maybe best...
  5. Anybody else find HK1997 Gold a lot softer than its advertised?

I find it strange too. I'm absolutely sure that my sponge on the HK1997 is NOT hard. It's soft and very easy to push with your finger. In a rally, it also feels very soft. The speed and softness kind of remind me of Rakza 7 soft, but without the high arc. At least we agree that the arc is low...
  6. Anybody else find HK1997 Gold a lot softer than its advertised?

Well I tried boosting this rubber and doing more testing, and I still find it really disappointing. With some light boosting, the speed seems to increase a bit. In some ways the rubber is actually quite fast, but it still has issues. First off, the rubber is listed at 49, but actually it is...
  7. Lin gaoyuan sponsorship with Butterfly

I believe he uses LGY ALC with H3 and Dignics 09c
  8. Do 40 hardness rubbers weight more than 39/38?

Does a harder rubber (such as H3N in 40 degree) weigh more than the same rubber in 39/38 degree? In grams, how much of a difference is it?
  9. Anybody tried boosting original Bryce?

Well i tried 3 layers of booster on the original bryce and its a huge disappointment. I guess it really does belong to a different era. 1. The rubber is really slow. Nowhere near esn speed, close in speed to some Chinese rubbers. Feels very dead with little rebound. 2. The rubber produces very...
  10. My Personal Guide to Rubbers on Aliexpress

No I didnt try it. But it may be even slower than hk1997. It doesnt seem very popular, so i didnt try it.
  11. Which hybrid rubber do you see being used

How are the ESN hybrid rubbers? I have never tried Rakza Z or Bluegrip or Dragon Grip. The only one I have tried is ZGR and my impression of it is that the sponge isn't as forceful as D09c. Sponge feels a little too soft to hit penetrating shots. Are the other ESN hybrids similar?
  12. Playing a tournament match against a Defensive Player

The past few days, my practice has been the best since I started playing and especially my backhand has been improving a lot. I'm using the backhand loop and drive a lot. Today I played a former 2200 player, former U13 and U15 US Open and US Nationals competitor. I lost 2-3 and was reasonably...
  13. Which hybrid rubber do you see being used

I've seen a few ZGR rubbers and D09c. Personally, I think Big Dipper is extremely underrated, affordable, and very enjoyable hybrid to use for FH and BH.
  14. Anybody tried boosting original Bryce?

I have a new sheet of the original Bryce that somebody randomly gave me 5 years ago. I tried hitting with it, and its very very slow/dead. It is nothing like modern rubbers (even Chinese rubbers are bouncier). Has anybody tried boosting this rubber and how did it turn out? I put 1 layer of...
  15. REVspin site؟

It is very hit or miss. Some ratings are indeed fairly accurate. Some ratings are quite inaccurate. I have bought many rubbers based on very high Revspin ratings, and they have turned out to be quite ridiculous. I have found the best way is to have a certain benchmark blade or rubber that you...
  16. Playing a tournament match against a Defensive Player

I wish more forum members would upload their matches. It's fun and cool to get to know people more through their games.
  17. Which countries are considered strongest in TT at the club level?

Yeah I'm a huge fan of boxing, and Russian/Ukrainian boxers are absolutely the best! They train the hardest, have the best fundamentals, and operate at the highest level.
  18. Playing a tournament match against a Defensive Player

oh wow! I guess you didn't take video of your match with her? Next time you play her, please record the whole match! It's very interesting to hear that your attacking style was able to penetrate her defense. It seems her strength is to use her counter-punch and efficiency to negate the...
  19. Playing a tournament match against a Defensive Player

Very awesome match!! I wish I could somehow get to this level of play. Btw, isn't that Aya from Ayalog in the back setting up her camera? Have you ever played her? That would be one very intriguing match that I would love to see!
