  1. Video Footage Safe Thread

Thanks again Carl & NL - as always you have given me the pointer to the issue I was trying to find, but couldn't see. I knew I was too vertical in plane and take the ball later rather than earlier, and I knew I needed to work on more forward movement on both sides, but hadn't really put these...
  2. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

Thank you - I definitely am aware of this issue, and not sure why it happens to be honest. Possibly because I have a 50% calf muscle on the right leg from an old back injury that means I cannot stand on my toes on that side, so lack some push. I need to work on that weight transfer and lateral...
  3. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

Thanks - makes sense. My robot can pan across in constant movement, so in a sense this is slightly more random. I was really focusing on trying to get used to always bouncing as the ball lands, so early steps still..
  4. Video Footage Safe Thread

Thanks Carl - plenty to digest here but in short, what you say mirrors what my coach says on both wings. Not enough forwards direction and too much lift! I need to groove this as it feels very unnatural to me and I lose confidence I’ll clear the net. I do see the connection however between the...
  5. Video Footage Safe Thread

Hi all, it’s been a while but I’ve been working hard on my game. I am hoping for some advice or thoughts on a challenge I am facing with my BH loop. i recorded the video below as part of another thread on the double bounce footwork, but in watching it back it struck me that I don’t much like the...
  6. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

I’m keen to keep this thread alive as I believe it‘s a very important one, so in the interests of a progress update, here is a video today of one of 5 intervals I did of around 100 balls played alternately FH/BH vs some fairly heavy underspin and with a focus on bounce step prior to recovery -...
  7. Which training ball to pick

I have been using Joola training balls in my robot for 12 months and have noticed they are really soft compared to the 3 star balls I use for service practice. Not sure if they have got softer over the duration and exposure to cold in my shed, but they are poor. Just ordered some 3 star Kevenz...
  8. New Blade - time to get familiar with?

Interestingly I also have 2 inner force layer ALC blades, and mine are quite different. My preferred one, that plays like your friends it sounds, is a straight handled 2016 blade thats been used, weighs 90g and is a beauty. I also got the new one, a 2022 flared handle weighing 87g and it is both...
  9. Tibhar Stratus Power Wood upgrade

I agree with the inner carbon approach and would highly recommend Joola Rossi Emotion or Butterfly innerforce ALC.
  10. World Table Tennis Championships 2023

I felt like there had been quite a few surprises so far (Dima/Aruna/Truls/Franciska/Calderano etc) Unfortunately (for me at least) FZD is looking imperious - rarely have I seen him look so dominant (The way he took Gionis apart was brutal - what even is a chop??) I truly hope he is stretched...
  11. Are Lebrun brothers just developing a permanent reputation for bad sportsmanship?

I think there is a fine line between unprofessional behaviour and just a bit of healthy needle between competitors - let's be honest, TT in France is a lot more lively and exciting than in many other countries, and I for one would love to see more of this energy and supporter interactivity in...
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Congratulations, what a great win - sounds like you had to fight for it but got through.
  13. We've done it. Cassel is going to the World Championships!!

Great job - I am sure you are making a big difference in these kids lives, so thank you.
  14. Looking for light rubbers (coming from Rakza 7)

Any sudden increase in playing volume is likely to manifest in some discomfort - for me it was tennis elbow. A gradual build up is important, along with some stretching and a proper warm up - it’s not likely that a lighter bat will solve this but it will bring other issues.
  15. Looking for light rubbers (coming from Rakza 7)

Is this because you have inherent wrist problems or a pre-existing injury? 183gm is not heavy for a blade/rubber combination and should not be causing you problems if you don't have a pre-existing condition. Most of my bats are 187-193g and feel well balanced and easy to use both sides (Blades...
  16. How long to develop reverse pendulum serve?

I have been working on it for 6 months now and whilst it's not perfect, I can use it regularly in matchplay and it is very effective. I watched a lot of videos and practiced many hours - I liked Tom and Dan's video tutorial a lot and in particular it helped with getting the feeling of passing...
  17. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

Nice work, that's a big difference in terms of movement and readiness!
  18. World Table Tennis Championships 2023

He did that for sure, Hugo had no answer despite starting so dominantly. Geraldo also played a superb match against Pitch - very tight!
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Those open ups look great on both sides to me Gozo, compact and good spin and control - very nice.
