  1. What if Felix Lebron switched his equipment. . .

I wonder if his technique is suited for Chinese rubber? He uses a very short arm technique on forehand and not a long straight arm swing like xu xin.
  2. Does anybody know any Chinese baldes that are Limba-Limba-ayous-Limba-Limba similar to Korbel and Primorac?

Not Chinese but gewo zoom pro is supposed to be similar to primorac and is about 45 to 50 bucks.
  3. Best LP for casual play?

I have not played with long pip but depending on your opponents level a high spin reversal pip is probably not well suited just going by theory because spin reversal pips are slick and thus only work against opponents who hit consistently high spin. So if you play mostly sub 1500 guys who only...
  4. Racket sanding (did I do it right?)

I have sanded a lot more but it is a good idea to start sanding a little and then add more.
  5. Shouldn't Afghanistan be suspended from ITTF ?

I'm torn on that. The taliban is terrible but table tennis is a very small sport in Afghanistan and banning them from it probably won't bother the taliban much, this isn't like a ban from soccer world cup or the Olympic games, where a ban is a huge embarrassment for the government. That means...
  6. My experience switching from shakehand to penhold

He probably was a very good SH player before switching.
  7. Can’t wait for the Dang Qiu ALC

Will they sell a SH Version of it? I really wonder what they Market for the bat will be? In europe almost nobody plays PH and will Chinese people really buy a bat from a German penhold player (albeit with chinese parents)? That being said he is the reigning European champion and has reached the...
  8. My experience switching from shakehand to penhold

Looks nice. You are much better than me so I can't really give you qualified advice but I also switched to penhold around a year ago. I think with the fingers everything from curled to straight can work, most are somewhat curled but xu xin did pretty well with straight fingers:). Some stuff...
  9. Who is missing the Cloud walker?

I think xu xin was born maybe 10 years too late. The big plastic ball, forehand and spin dominant game and big long straight arm swings away from the table all really hurt him in the modern game but he still made a very good career out of it due to his outstanding skills. With the 38mm ball...
  10. Who is missing the Cloud walker?

I would like to see a really talented penhold player from china again. Some of their younger PH guys are solid but pretty generic. Some have a good RPB but a pretty generic forehand for example. It would need to be a guy with a massive forehand, good serve and good footwork but also a solid...
  11. Why can't they remove the dust from new balls?

Would it be that expensive? You could roll all the balls over a grid and use an airstream to blow the powder off the balls, couldn't you?
  12. Favorite to win 2024 Olympics?

I think FZD will finally make it.
  13. Losing pretty instead of winning ugly

Would this be a good mindset to improve? There is a famous tennis book by Brad Gilbert called winning ugly which is about some strategies to mentally and tactically beat a slightly better opponent. I wonder if the opposite mindset would be good for a player who is trying to advance. Instead of...
  14. Why are top players sometimes hitting a forehand with the left foot in the air?

The usual recommendation is that you transfer the weight from the right foot to the left during forehand topspin and in many cases top players are doing that but you sometimes see them lifting the left knee during the hit and landing on the left foot only after contact. For example you see it...
  15. Penhold Rubber Selection Advice

I think RPB is much easier to learn for SH players than for classic penholders. I switched from SH to Two sided penhold and learned it pretty quickly. I'm bad at it but not worse than I was with SH:). I feel that RPB isn't different from SH, maybe it has disadvantages at certain angles but it...
  16. Penhold Rubber Selection Advice

I think for one sided PH a tacky rubber isn't so good because of TPB which is more like flat hit and blocking which isn't so great with tacky rubber. Two sided PH I assume most Chinese play tacky on FH and tensor on BH like they do on SH?
  17. Practice drills for lefty

Watch some of the videos of victor who sometimes posts here. He plays penhold but modern style so it it pretty much like SH You can also find training videos by elite lefties like boll or wang chuqin. Also watch their matches to see what strategies they use and then practice those in...
  18. Popularity of Inner Carbons in pro game.

Could be a Factor that rubbers got so much faster? I guess after the speed glue ban outer carbon really became popular (like the boll alc or the primorac carbon) to compensate for the lesser speed but now rubbers are so fast again that pros don't need the super fast blade like they needed in...
