  1. Handicap League Format Suggestions

You could do it like the Chinese did in those men vs women exhibitions. They started at a certain gap and if the favorite wins the set the underdog gets an additional point gap the next set and vice versa if the underdog wins he gets one point less of a gap. So for example you start at a 3...

Not qualified to comment on the technique in this thread but that must be the world's smallest ball bucket:)

Yeah it would make sense around 45 degrees would give you more adjustability in either direction.
  4. Backhand pips for chopping

I have never played pips but just based on theory isn't pips that chop well against flat hits/backspin and pips that chop well against heavy topspin mutually exclusive? I would assume against no spin or backspin more grippy pips would be better while against heavy loops you would want a more...

I will ask my friend whether he is ok when I tape the match.

Btw why can't I embed video? If I put in link it shows video but it doesn't play or shows link but not the video Like this https://youtu.be/TN0Y0WwUC6s I can only put in link using the link function.

The machine Doesn't shoot faster or at higher cadence but I can make the ball come in flatter and more direct and thus quicker by putting a wedge under the rear side of the robot. However I got suggested that at this point that would rush me and thus I'm better off getting those high arc balls...

Thanks that's a great video. I think I'm still lifting the ball a little on the flat hits, maybe it is because of the robot. In matches I'm quite good at flat hitting/smashing when the ball is like double net high or higher.

I got in a round today before work. Slid the hand up a little higher on the triceps instead of the elbow to have the elbow a bit more away from the body. Again did first some flat hit and second some loops. Not sure if technique is better but I landed almost all loops on the table with good...

I was using that elbow on other hand method to fixate the elbow like 3 inches away from the side and I could hit quite well with that method and hit some decent loops but I felt I always had to take an extra step and move closer to the ball than I would think without the elbow support.Maybe I...

Btw how far should the elbow be away from the side laterally? Is it better to be close or more away.

I think I don't want to over analyze it but it can be good to know what I think happens is not what actually happens.

Btw how can Dima use his forearm to accelerate when he already starts at 90 degrees? The Chinese start like almost straight and then bend to 90 but Timo and Dima already start around 90 or maybe a tad above. I don't quite understand

I currently can't play in a club bc I'm quite involved into coaching baseball. I play 1 or 2 times a week with 2 friends one of them who used to play at a club albeit at a low level. Also about 2 times per week for 20 minutes with the robot before work as the facility is on my commute way...

Do you think that machine shoots topspin? I think it is more like no spin, it's just a lever throwing it out, there are no wheels to spin the ball.

Would it make sense to clamp a towel between the elbow and the side? So you only use the body turn and forearm and kinda bypass the shoulder? Like that: https://youtu.be/0hk8KAsyJDg
  17. Video Footage Safe Thread

So basically if the upper arm gets pulled up passively by the weight of the forearm at the end of the stroke it is fine but if you rip the shoulder/upper arm up to try to generate spin it is bad?
  18. Video Footage Safe Thread

Dima definitely finishes low with the elbow and is very compact but doesn't ma long lift the elbow a bit? Not like I did of course but it seems like his upper arm often ends up like shoulder high. Or do I see that wrong? I'm not trying to be argumentative,I just want to understand what I see...

Sometimes the site redirects to a page with old threads. It's threads like liu guoliang supports ttd or so. Not sure what button I have clicked to get there but maybe that is how old threads gez bumped.
