  1. Rubber properties understanding

@spinner24 Congratz, you've found out that no-spin variation is good. Now go and learn how to make your heavy backspin look like no-spin, and your no-spin look like heavy backspin. No rubber change required!
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Trained with my dad today. 2nd session of the week. A ton of stuff that I worked on half a year ago are falling into place now. I haven't taken video to confirm, but I think my strokes are now more or less where I wanted them: but even better! Swinging is so relaxed when you learn not to tense...
  3. why europe sucks so bad?

"Haha, got you sucka, now you've improved and there's nothing about can do about it!"
  4. Rubber properties understanding

Doesn't it matter A LOT where and how fast you contact the ball anyway? For example with a more side-on stroke you can hit into topspin with a more open angle, as opposed to when you're blocking very heavy topspin and need to close the angle a lot. So this kind of advice might not be the big...
  5. Unsolicited Coaching

If they're real coaches, I would shut up and listen. If not, well, take it or leave it. I would always leave "SPIN THE BALL MAN".
  6. Rubber properties understanding

No, tacky rubber does not generate more spin. Where the hell has this idea come from? Maybe in the hands of a very good player it has more potential, but mechanically it generates LESS spin, because more energy is used to get the ball off the bat in the first place. That is why people have...
  7. Low backhand power

@Baal I've never played very close attention to this, but I'll pay more attention next time I train.
  8. Low backhand power

I knew the whole physics behind it, but I didn't know that it makes THAT much of a difference. What exactly is happening differently when the ball hits the sweetspot compared to when it doesn't? Is the blade just harder there?
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

@UpSideDownCarl Carl, I don't know why, but YouTube is recommending me this: Category: Comedy
  10. Low backhand power

That's interesting. To me it feels like I'm hitting near the middle, maybe even closer to the handle sometimes. Never payed attention to this. Is it so important?
  11. Low backhand power

If you could post some video of yourself doing backhands, we could give you meaningful advice.
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

    A personal favorite.
  13. remove timo boll picture

Don't you just love Poe's Law and what it accomplishes?
  14. Getting better my game

I don't think that body motion on the serve is going to do much. It'll do you better to learn good mechanics first.
  15. remove timo boll picture

@iamme Assault weapon? I've only ever seen anti-gun politicians throw that term around when referring to rifles. It's a first from an LEO. Unless you mean one of these babies: THAT's an assault weapon! An assault gun, to be specific.
  16. Getting better my game

I remember that fellow. You'd shown a video before. I had that same kind of attitude, but I've taken it a habit to do a proper warmup and the like, so I figured why not change as well. It's easier to focus on the game when your pants aren't sticking to your ass.
  17. Getting better my game

@Shuki It's cool as shit, but it ain't so cool between your legs after a few sets...
  18. Getting better my game

I'm not good enough to give you advice that'd help you, but I can tell you that it's a good thing you posted video in the same post as when you asked questions. I can however advise you in a non-game related, but still game related thing: Get a t-shirt and some more flexible pants! I used to...
  19. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

People have different arm lengths, so I don't think it's such a big deal if the stroke finishes a little bit across. Forcing it to finish dead center could not be ideal.
